Judgment

Judgment

I have not feared much
Why then does my blood run cold
The time had to come
When I would be judged
I do not want to walk those steps
Admit my sins as I climb
All the time fearing that I would fall
I have to go
One step at a time
Higher with my thoughts
My confessions and my lies
My dreams and my nightmares
I do not wish to speak to the man at the top
The one who will tell me how bad I have been
Where I will spend eternity
But, I must
It may not do any good
I must speak and defend myself
I must allow myself to be judged
Whether pleasure of terror
I must allow myself to be sentenced

To an eternity I have no say in
