Joey Shouldn’t Have Died

You were so cute
Just a baby
You hadn’t had a chance to live
We know your mother tried
She nursed you
Cared for you
Protected you from harm
But something happened
God designed you wrong
When the fires came you had no chance
Your mother couldn’t run away
The fires licked your bodies
As they devoured you
We wished we could have done more
Now we mourn for you and your mother
