A Proud Aborigine

A Proud Aborigine

He wasn’t very old
Not a child but not yet a man
He lived a good life
But he was doing something wrong
His Mum was black, and his Dad was white
A crime in the eyes of way too many
So, the Government took him away
He was given away to an unknown family
Rich and white
The best Australia has to offer
He was taught how to be white
And taught to forget being black
His culture was lost
The Dreamworld was lost
The language was lost
Still he lived and grew into manhood
Learning his heritage as he grew
And one day he will return
No longer carrying a European name
He once again will become a proud Aborigine

Magic Of The Lake

Magic Of The Lake

He called off work on a Friday morning
Left his family behind
And he just walked off into the forest
So many miles he walked
Beyond the dirt roads and trails
In a world of total solitude
In that world he found what he seeked
A lonely wooden dock
Not touched by anyone in many years
Slowly he walked onto its crumbling timbers
Checking each one to make sure it was safe
At the end he looked into the coolness of the water
Thought about his life and everything in it
How easy it would be to just sink away
But, he remembered his little girl’s smile
So, he just sat and dangled his feet over the side
And, in that moment all his stress and sadness faded
The magic of the lake worked
Because of it he lived happily ever after

That One Moment

That One Moment

Moment by moment
Day by day
Year by year
Time passes
We are not able to stop it
Or even slow its passing
So we grumble and complain
Asking where did the time go
But we look back
Seeing moments long gone
Most times in fondness
As long as we know that one moment is there
The one we cannot live without
We do not mind the flow
We cannot live without it

Even if it is just for the single moment

Summer Will Return

Summer Will Return

Summer is nearly gone
Only a few days left
And the Sun will pass the equator
Pools will empty
And parkas will come out
Replacing the swimsuits
While the days continue to shorten
Memories will remain
Of the Summer just pass
But remember

Always remember Summer will return

A Lost Girl

A Lost Girl

She spent her life
Hiding in the shadows
She never knew who she was
She was only someone’s daughter
She knew so many things
Could do so much
But, no one encouraged her
So, she faded away
Locking away the person she was
No one ever saw that beautiful girl
No one knew what she had to offer
And the talents that were lost
After so many years she died alone
That was a sad moment for the world

But no one ever cried

Fly My Children

Fly My Children

My children
I have loved you for so long
From the moment I first saw you
You changed and grew
Became more beautiful every day
Spreading your wings
The time finally came
And you were free to live your lives
So, fly away into your future

And become who you were meant to be

Password To My Heart

Password To My Heart

I have kept to myself
My heart locked away
Avoiding any pain
I was happy with that
Then I met you
With your perfect smile
And your haunting heart
You saw right into me
The locks I set up
Designed to keep you away
But you looked
Saw my deepest secret
And, without a single word
You guessed my heart’s password
And you opened the locks
One by one they all fell away
At that moment you entered my soul
And I fall in love you
