The Last Wish

The Last Wish

Gravedigger do your job
Dig the hole deep and wide
I will be coming soon
You will need to be ready
There will be no mourners
You will be the only one
The only one to see me placed in the ground
Place a wooden cross at my head
No name or date
I do not want to be found
Please allow me to be alone
Let the demons of death have my soul
I want my body to fade into the earth
There is only one wish I wish to ask
Bury me face down
My face buried in the dirt
Leave me so I can tell the world
If they ever happen upon me
Long after my cross has turned to dust
I want to let them know when the dig me up

They can simply kiss my ass

Dead Man's Hand

Dead Man’s Hand

Should have never sat down
A backwoods country bar
Filled with redneck men
Beautiful country girls
And a Texas Hold’em game in the back
A few losing hands
Then came the black aces and black eights
The dead man’s hand
A stack of chips in the middle
Everyone went all in
Most lost and someone won
A Smith & Wesson came out
Bullets flew and a man fell dead
They learned that day that there is a time to fold
There is no winning with a dead man’s hand

Waves

Waves

Watching the water at the beach
Its glassy surface shines under the sun
Waves dance it a rhythm that only nature could write
Some small and so graceful and so petite
Others destroy ages old coastlines
They all live as Earth’s beauty
Where were they born?
How far have they traveled to reach this land?
Looking at a wave is to see grace, power and splendor
Yet it also has a sense of sadness as it reaches the land
Knowing that it traversed thousands of miles
Wandering half way around the world
Just to die before my eyes
Giving its life as it fades into the sand

So sad…so sad
