Please Sit With Me

Please Sit With Me

Please come and sit with me
You don’t have to talk
But, I hope that you will listen
I have lived for so many years
And I have seen so much
And lived a life you could never imagine
Let me tell you about my darkness
And let me share my light with you
I will tell you of the people I loved
And the ones who left me behind
I just want someone to remember
So, please come and sit with me
You don’t have to talk

But, I hope that you will listen

Woop Woop

Woop Woop

How I long to get away
Just hop in my car and drive
Maybe make my way to Woop Woop
A place where the world is left behind
Lights that bring the city to life
And tell the kids it’s time to go in
A place where politics doesn’t exist
Where people talk and never argue
Music drifts through the air
And the Sun shines through cool breezes
Woop Woop is a place where life is lived
Still no ever goes there
No one has ever seen Woop Woop on a map
But everyone knows about it
Too bad Woop Woop doesn’t exist
It is just an Australian legend

Except in my dreams

The Beauty Of You

The Beauty Of You
By R.e. Taylor

I fell in love with you
It has never been easy
You are so beautiful
Out of my class
Still my heart went to you
And you were all it ever needed
But even with that I am trouble
I look at a thousand flowers
Carefully examining each one
Color and petal count
And just the right scent
It is a quest I can never finish
There in no flower in nature
Which is as beautiful as you

The Loss Of A Country

Loss Of A Country

Dig, dig, dig
Deeper and wider
Take the cities
Take the villages
And take the rainforests
Take the Aboriginals
The Europeans
And the Asians
Put them in your hole
Make them dig for you
Looking for gold and uranium
Dig down as far as you can go
Dig to the shores of the mighty oceans
Make it so the land no longer exists
Only a hole where a country used to be
Then what will you do

Dream Forest

Dream Forest

She was born and raised in the city
Surrounded by towers of glass
She heard stories of another world
With trees, birds and animals
Breezes swirling around her
And the scents of a million flowers
In her dreams and payers
She thought only of that magical land
But she knew that it didn’t exist
It was just a story people told
Still she spent her life dreaming
And to her it was real

Even if it was just in her mind

Our World Of Color

Our World Of Color

The world is black and white
That is what so many see
Right or wrong
Up or down
With nothing in between
No grays
No colors
Still there are others
Those of us who see only colors
Without absolutes
We see the world
And we share what we see
Maybe someone will hear us speak
Read our words
And we will make a difference
After all we are poets and musicians

And that is what we are supposed to do

The Clock

The Clock

There was a clock when I took my first breath
It told my parents the second I began to live
Then throughout my life clocks were there
Following me, watching my every move
They knew when and where I have to be
They allow me to know the things I have done
But they hide my future from me
However, that same clock that watched me born
Will be there when I take my last breath
Once again, the time will be written down
I do know one thing at the moment of my death
Wherever I go there will be a clock
Ticking away to let me know how long I have been gone
As if that really mattered

After all, I can’t be late for anything…can I?

The Rich Get Richer

The Rich Get Richer

The headlines said the world is better
The rich are getting richer
While the poor still suffer their fate
Eating in soup kitchens
Living on the streets in the coldest winter
No one knows how they feel
Not that anyone would ever care
As long as the wealthy keep their money
The poor and homeless can try to live
Owning their place on a park bench
Covered with the latest newspaper
They hope that they will not freeze

While the rich get richer

New Year Prayers

New Year Prayers
By R.e. Taylor

She watched the new year come in
Celebrations around the world
From New York to Perth
And back again
Every time the clock struck twelve
Another of her prayers was answered
No one was hurt or killed by terror
At least for that one single moment
Everyone all around the world got along
In the morning she awoke to a new day
And for once she was happy
As she looked into the sky
And she knew that everyone in the world
Was sharing that day with her
