A Nonsexual Poem

A Nonsexual Poem

It was so nice to see
The way it smiled
When it walked by
Its clothes shined in the sun
And it smiled as it looked over
Although their eyes never met
Of never even talked
It had something it liked
And it wanted to know more
It hoped to be able to talk
But it never stopped walking
It never slowed down
And in a moment, it was gone
Expect in its memory
It would remember it always

And it would be happy

The War Between Men And Women

The War Between Men And Women

It began long ago
Stupidity took over for common sense
Men began thinking they were superior
Women wanted to put them in the place
Kings and Queens and every peasant
Everyone fought the war
But no one ever won and no one lost
It has been an eternal battle
One that no side could ever win
In the end there will have to be a truce
No winner and no loser
Just two sides who stopped fighting
After all both sides need the other
If we didn’t have each other humanity would end

And there would never have been a war anyway

Tommy Baker

Tommy Baker

Tommy Baker went to a show
At a brothel where he wasn't known
He knew he'd find hell
If his wife he did tell
On the way poor Tommy fretted
And man that boy he sweated
He was seated in the very back
Bravery was something he lacked
He didn't need to worry though
His wife was the star of the show

Poets And Photographers

Poets And Photographers

Poets and photographers
Are a breed all their own
They will wait for hours
Sometime days of even weeks
For just the right moment
When everything is just right
Where the universe is in synch
Only at that moment
Will the inspiration hit

And beauty will be created

The Journey Of A Water Droplet

The Journey Of A Water Droplet

A single droplet of water
Identical to a trillion others
It flowed through a hundred
Lakes, rivers, and streams
Just to reach the edge of the mighty cliff
It doesn’t fight to stay
It knows that it must go over the edge
In an instant, it falls
Crashing onto ancient rocks below
But, that little droplet isn’t done yet
It flies upon strong winds
Lifted into the air with a trillion others just like it
When the sun strikes this special droplet
It lights with an infinite number of colors
And when it sees a little girl
Holding onto her mother’s hand
She is looking into the sky
Looking at that tiny water droplet
And she has the biggest smile ever
That made the trip so well worth it

Superhero

Superhero
By R.e. Taylor

I see children
They play
And they enjoy life
I also see one thing
Every child has powers
They cannot fly
Or stop a bullet
But they do have powers
Where they can master everything
They can sing and dance
They can tell stories
They may be great at science
Or they may be the next MVP
No one can tell
So, we encourage them
Teach them
And love them
So, they can be the superheroes
Only they know they can be

Interchange

Interchange

Right or left
Up or down
In or out
Maybe right side up
Or maybe right side down
Life can be so hard
Knowing where you’ve been
Not where you are going
All you can do is hope
That your next decision will be right
And you will land on all fours
In the lane you want
If you chose wrong

You may end up traveling in circles

Grandma's Chest

Grandma’s Chest

My family has an old chest
We all knew about it
There were always stories
But, grandma was the last to touch it
She said it was as old as the Earth
Containing the secrets of royalty
We never knew
And if she wouldn’t tell us
We didn’t want to know
On the day she left us
She came back and the chest opened
We gathered around
Each wanting to know the secret
But, we closed the chest
And not one of us looked
To us we have the secrets of royalty

And that is something that should never be seen

Difference

Difference
By R.e. Taylor

I may be strange
I may be different
But you know what
Your judgment is not needed
I chose to be the way I am
And it is how I am happiest
So if you don’t like who I am
If you can’t accept me as me
Just turn away and keep walking
I promise that I won’t care
You will not know what you are missing
And that is your loss

The King Has Fallen

The King Has Fallen

The King’s reign has been long
So much gold was laid at his feet
It didn’t matter what he had to do
Who he had to hurt
As long as the gold came to him
He cheated, and he lied
But he was called a hero by most
Now the King has fallen
His crown taken by a mighty bird
One who swooped down and took the gold
Alas, the King can only mourn
And remember his days of glory

While the rest of the kingdom rejoices

Your Little Girl

Your Little Girl

The day your daughter is born
It is a very special day
You dream of frilly dresses
Endless giggles
Blonde curls on her shoulders
The prettiest blue eyes ever
And so many tea parties
But dreams rarely come true
That precious little girl
Will don ragged jeans and a tee
She will play in the mud
So thick that it will have to be blasted off
And the princess will be gone
No matter what
Muddy or frilly
She will be your little girl

And you will always be her Daddy

The Confederate Boy

The Confederate Boy

He never did anything to you
You don’t even know his name
Nor do you care to
He never owned a slave
All he did was fight for his country
He was just thirteen when they took him
Barely old enough to shave
But he fought, and he most likely died
For the freedom of his people
And the liberty of his home
Still after so much time
The young boy is hated and cursed
By people who never knew him
Or his story
But he is still a hero
Someone who believed in his land
Someone who is willing to die defending it
And today that is so rare
He should be a lesson to us all

Instead of being a labeled a criminal

When You Wish Upon A Star

When You Wish Upon A Star

My mother always told me
When you have a wish to make
Wish it upon a distant star
Look for the brightest one
And, once I am gone, it will be me
Waiting in Heaven to hear your voice
I will listen to you and do my best
To hear your wish and grant it for you
But child make sure you know this
I will not grant every one
Only the ones which are good for you
I am your mother after all
And I always know what is best for you
So, my child, have faith
And always look for the brightest star
Cause I will be looking for you
