Too Much Sunshine

Too Much Sunshine

At night everyone prays
Wishing for rain to come
The morning often brings hope
Dark black clouds float overhead
Full of water and promises
They fill the skies from edge to edge
The plants wait for the rain to fall
So do the people who need cooler air
But the Sun may have other ideas
Heating the air more and more
The clouds disappear one by one
Until the sky is, once again, nothing but blue
And again, the Sun has won
The drought continues
And everyone has but one thought

“Can there be too much sunshine”

Rescue Dog

Rescue Dog

You might be rich
Designers house
Designer car and clothes
Even a designer kid
So, of course you have a designer dog
Bred in a puppy mill
Kept in cages and sold for too much money
But there are so many others
Given up on before they had a chance
Still they have love and hope in their eyes
They have love to give but no way to share it
Instead they are locked in a glass cage
Maybe they have a friend with them but usually not
Still they wag their tails and smile as best they can
They have hope that someone will give them a home
While waiting for someone to come and take them away
Into a cold room away from everyone
With a needle in a vein they fall asleep
And never again wake up
If only one person bought a rescue
Instead of a designer dog
A life could be saved

And loved could be shared once again

Let The Storm Come

Let The Storm Come

Let the storm come
The pure anger that God can show
We are not afraid
We have survived so much
Seeing our houses destroyed
Having to scrounge to live
We have been through all that before
And we became stronger than you
So God, show us your worst
We will stand in Your lightning
And Your thunder and Your rain
We will be here tomorrow

And we will stand together forever

Where Are My Dreams

Where Are My Dreams

There is a question no one asks
Maybe they don’t want to know
Maybe they don’t really care
But I want to know
While you are sleeping
Dreams fill your head
Created by a still active mind
When they finish and your eyes open
Where do your dreams go
Are they lost forever as if erased
Or is there a place where dreams are saved
Stored for us for another time
Maybe when I die my dreams will return
Almost like the movies I used to watch
At least I hope that I will see them again

Especially all of the happy ones

A Place To Escape

A Place To Escape

15.77 billion acres of land
So many places to live
Yet some want more
Just a place to escape
To get away from everyone
For some it will just a be a tent
Other want a cabin by a stream
Some have a dream only they can create
A palace in the sky
Surrounded by the beauty of an old tree
With birds singing outside the window

Only in a place like that can they feel peace

The Magic Of A Dollhouse

The Magic Of A Dollhouse

Someone bought it two hundred years ago
Just a toy for someone’s little girl
A home for her dolls and all of her dreams
Over time the dolls moved out
New little girls saw a new reason for the house
They could see fairies and other magical friends
The girls always knew where their friends were
And who will be there to help them dream
When the nights got too rough or too long
They were always there to wipe away the tears
Over the years the girls created more and more magic
Every wish and prayer went into the little house
Every one was answered with a piece of hope
And that hope was shared with others in an endless chain

All because someone bought a toy two hundred years ago

Dreaming Under God's Branches

Dreaming Under God’s Branches

He has been looking
Searching his whole life
Trying to find a special place
One where he could wish and dream
To remember that one person
The one with the kiss he wanted
Even though it was so far away
Where he could dream of the children he missed
And they way they used to laugh and play
He could sit and meditate
Thinking about all he did right in his life
And everything that he ever did which was not so right
Lastly, he could talk to his God
And ask for His forgiveness
Then he can lay beneath the branches of God's temple

And he can finally have the rest he always wanted
