Too Many

Too Many
By Lord R.e. Taylor

Too many live their lives
Scarred, beaten, and sometimes killed
Covering their pain with fake smiles
A few “accidents” leave marks
But their deepest bruises are never seen

The Last Autumn Tree

The Last Autumn Tree
By Lord R.e. Taylor

Autumn is half over
Less sun and cool weather
Tree after tree fall asleep
Dropping their leaves
As the fall into a deep sleep
Yet one refuses its fate
Leaves cling to their branches
Fighting as hard as it can
It becomes a temple of red and gold
Remaining until the first snow falls
When sleep overtakes it
And it becomes like the others
Waiting for spring to return
When life begins again

Standing On The Bridge

Standing On The Bridge
By Lord R.e. Taylor

The bridge isn’t that long
Walking to the middle
Every step is an eternity
He stands on the edge
Looking at the rushing water
As well as the sharp rocks below
Thinking about all the bad
He cannot find one good thing
All it would take is just one step
The bad would be washed away
And he would never be sad again

My Tiny Baby

My Tiny Baby
By Lord R.e. Taylor

My tiny baby
You want to be happy
With your own pet mouse
And the videos of you
All for you
My tiny baby

Time

Time
By Lord R.e. Taylor

Time was created by man
Setting when we do things
When we sleep or wake
When we eat
Even when we are born
And when we die
All recorded down to the minute
No one can hide from it
No one can escape it
All we can do is count it down
Make the best of what we have left
Before we don’t have any more

Their Place

Their Place
By Lord R.e. Taylor

They met under a blessed star
Loving together for sixty years
Every night they shared a cup of tea
And a view of their paradise
When the end came, they were together
Holding hands and looking at each other
Their love showed as they took their last breaths
That was many, many years ago
And many people shared their paradise
But that table, those chairs, and their cups
They still look out and they wait
Looking for another couple so much in love
Another couple who will spend their lives together
Drinking tea and just being with each other

Purgatory

Purgatory
By Lord R.e. Taylor

I lost my body a while ago
I don’t know how long for sure
But I am stuck somewhere
I can see Heaven and I can see Hell
I stand in between the two
Not allowed to enter either place
So, I wander the world of the living
Seeing everything I used to enjoy
Even people I used to love
They keep them just out of reach
This place isn’t Heaven or Hell
It is so much worse
A punishment I built for myself
A prison I can never leave

Backroads

Backroads
By Lord R.e. Taylor

I don’t want me no asphalt
I don’t want me no concrete
I don’t even want me no bricks
This is my time away
And I only want me some red dirt
Let my tires know what down home is like
I don’t care where it goes
As long as there is some scrub
And a few crossroad towns
It is the place I want to be
My home away from everything
A place I could die a happy man

The Volcano God

The Volcano God

Virgins sacrificed
Appeasing a god
For luck in battle
A good hunt or good life

Perfection

Perfection
By Lord R.e. Taylor

God makes everything imperfect
Flaws are within all reality
Occasionally one perfect thing shows itself
A flower, a cloud, or a child
If you ever find it
Treasure it
Because you may never find it again

Seven Billion Dead

Seven Billion Dead
By Lord R.e. Taylor

Seven billion people dead
It only took a couple of years
No one could shed a tear
No one cared about warnings
Words were not meant for them
They knew better than everyone
So, they all surrounded without thought
Giving up to invisible soldiers
So now, seven billion people are dead

The Need To Be Alone

The Need To Be Alone
By Lord R.e. Taylor

Whiskey is not helping
Neither is smoking weed
His problems are too deep
Kept inside for just too long
He needs something he cannot get
His heart tells him where he must be
A place where everything is left behind
He needs to find the end of the world
Maybe there he can find peace

A Billion Wishes

A Billion Wishes
By Lord R.e. Taylor

A billion points of light
Lighting the endless heavens
Each one made for you
Waiting to grant your wishes
All you have to do is ask

Their Endless Prison

Their Endless Prison
By Lord R.e. Taylor

Look around
A building beautiful in its time
Closed and hidden from the world
Still, it is filled with hope
And filled with despair
Mists show traces of past lives
Spirits wander the rooms
Looking for their bodies
Maybe just for a white light
Or maybe for anyone to know they are there
But for most that never happens
For them hour after hour
Year after year is always the same
They are trapped in a prison
Serving a sentence which never ends

October

October
By Lord R.e. Taylor

One month a year
Between September and November
Everything you want in 31 days
October is made for us
It is so sad if you ever lost it

Planning For October

Planning For October
By Lord R.e. Taylor

October snuck in without a sound
Opening the thin veil
One which no one opens
The souls came into our world
Watching and waiting
Picking children to scare
And counting the days until October 31
The night when they can be themselves
Moaning and banging in the dark
Showing themselves just enough
Making the night a perfect memory

All Alone

All Alone
By Lord R.e. Taylor

Mom died not long ago
I know she went to Heaven
One time Heaven opened to me
I took the chance and looked
But I was there all alone
My mom was nowhere to be found
