My Longest Mistake

My Longest Mistake
by Lord R.e. Taylor

Tears are flowing again
Burning my eyes
Leaving scars along my face
How could I have ever let you go
My life and my dreams
Just gone in a bad moment
I should have said I was sorry
But it all happened too fast
Now, we never talk
Not even to say hello
It should never had gotten this bad
But it is far too late
So I cry every night as I reach for you
I only find empty air where you should be
My heart breaks and my tears flow
And I know that is what a mistake should feel like

October 7 2023

October 7 2023
by Lord R.e. Taylor

All it took was just one day
A sneak attack by cowards
Killed thousands of innocents
Men, women, children and babies
Shot, raped, burned, and beheaded
The few who are left
The children left can not find love
Their parents were placed in mass graves
Their home destroyed
Their futures taken away from them
Now, the cowards cry for help
The innocents have been fighting back
Defending those who are left
Following God's words of ‘an eye for an eye’
They should continue fighting
Until every last coward rots in Hell

Empty Chairs

Empty Chairs
by Lord R.e. Taylor

For years he and his wife shared the sunset
Sitting in those chairs every night
Now, they are both with the angels
Do the chairs know that they are no longer coming
They look so sad as they just sit and wait
Hoping that someone will stop by for just a moment

Beauty Is Doomed

Beauty Is Doomed
by Lord R.e. Taylor

Beauty comes in so many ways
But it was never created to last
It was created to be destroyed
Either by passing time or age
Or through an act of violence
After all, it does not matter
And there is nothing we can do about it
In the long run, all beauty is doomed

Loneliness

Loneliness
by Lord R.e. Taylor

Most I know hate loneliness
They need people to survive
I am not that kind of person
It does not take much to please me
Maybe just an hour of loneliness
Just for the chance for some silence

Destroying The Universe

Destroying The Universe
by Lord R.e. Taylor

Humans don't think
Most likely they don't care
They created a world of destruction
Destroying stars, planets, the entire universe
Hiding beauty created through billions of years
But is it worth a child not having a star to wish upon
Or couples not having a moon to fall in love under
All just to sell a few more hamburgers

One Special Night

One Special Night
by Lord R.e. Taylor

One night
One very special night
The veil comes down
The dead and the living
Walking together with lost loved ones
Blessed by the gods
They share All Hallows Eve

They Are You

They Are You
by Lord R.e. Taylor

One drop of blood is too many
Despite all of our differences
We are all of the human species
So look at your enemies
They are you in another body

Torture

Torture
by Lord R.e. Taylor

Torture is the new way of war
Useless pain and death
Everyone is included
Babies, children, women … everyone
When did humanity die

Halloween Memory

Halloween Memory
by Lord R.e. Taylor

You may not know
Your days are numbered
Soon the children will come
Looking for beauty
If you are chosen by them
Yes, you may get a new home
But, it will not last
It never does for your kind
You will be butchered
Made ugly for a single night
No, you have no choice
So there is only a couple things to say to you
May your children have a happy Halloween
And may you be their favourite memory

His American Dream

His American Dream
by Lord R.e. Taylor

He always tried to be good
The kind of man he knew he should be
He worked hard all of his life
Married the only woman he ever loved
And raised his kids the way he should
That all ended one spring evening
His world collapsed in around him
He lost everything that meant him anything
Now he sleeps under a leaky bridge
Beaten and robbed every night
Yet, he has never given up
He still believes in the American dream
Even if it doesn’t believe in him

Memories No More

Memories No More
by Lord R.e. Taylor

So many memories
Places we have been
People we have known
You could always go back
And they would be there
A promise which could not be kept
Time passed without us knowing
Slowly, everything we remembered
They were all taken away
Replaced by empty spaces
Even our minds begin to fade
Until just a few neurons are left
If and when they are gone
Our memories will go with them
And our history...just like us
Will cease to exist
