You Will Be Them

You Will Be Them
by Lord R.e. Taylor

One day not too far off
Your mind will shut down
Taken by a machine miles away
It will tell you what to think
It will tell you what to say
And even control your dreams
All without you ever knowing it
Yes, the time is coming
Scientists are making sure
Of course, they will not tell you
But every thought you have
Every emotion you feel
They will belong to them
You will never again be you
You will be them

Your First Kiss

Your First Kiss
by Lord R.e. Taylor

Treasure your first kiss
It may be gentle and loving
Or it may drown you
Either way it will be worth it

Without Us

Without Us
by Lord R.e. Taylor

I see you in my nightmares
But I always look for you in my life
Your wisdom is beyond reproach
My reality is different from yours
Maybe just as twisted I am sure
But that is the only miracle of life
We can be so alike but so different
I just want to know one thing
Without either of us existing here
Would the world be a better place

I Am Not Rich

I Am Not Rich
by Lord R.e. Taylor

I am not rich
Probably never will be
Do I have everything I need?
Not quite, but I get by
I do have people who love me
A dog who is my best friend
And a roof over my head
Could I use a million dollars
Yeah, but I don’t really want it
I have more than I could ever ask for
And as long as I can smile
That is just enough

Big City Minstrel

Big City Minstrel
by Lord R.e. Taylor

I am not that Naked Cowboy
I just want to share my music
Walking down these busy streets
Singing The Oak Ridge Boys all the way
Maybe that will let a few people smile
And that is all I want

Killer Kid

Killer Kid
by Lord R.e. Taylor

Poor kid
He never stood a chance
Abused by his mother
Abandoned by his father
Always told that he was a victim
Everyone else caused everything
No wonder the hatred grew
It was just a matter of time
So many innocents died that day
Killed while learning their ABCs
Yet he was allowed to live
Locked away to keep everyone safe
Except the ones killed too soon

His Prayer

His Prayer
by Lord R.e. Taylor

He never knew when you left
Never knew where you went
All he knew was that his heart was empty
He cried through the night
A prayer flows between his tears
One prayer which fills his soul
Asking for just a few seconds to say good-bye
But, it is a wish which will never be answered

Time Off

Time Off
by Lord R.e. Taylor

It has been a long night
So many children
So many teeth
She runs and flies her butt off
Night after night
No wonder she needs a rest
Maybe a half of an hour for lunch
Maybe she needs a cigarette or a beer
Sadly there is no rest for her
A Tooth-Fairy’s day never ends

The Unholy Four

The Unholy Four
by Lord R.e. Taylor

We are the Unholy Four
Together since kindie
Our lives are intertwined
We eat together, drink together
And got into trouble together
Life would not be life without them

Echoes Of Screams

Echoes Of Screams
by Lord R.e. Taylor

It only took minutes
Innocent people were wiped out
Tortured and murdered
Now the streets are empty
There is no one left to be seen
The few survivors are long gone
But the streets are still filled
Filled with the souls of the killed
And the screams that will never fade
Begging to be remembered
And pleading for justice

Death By Music

Death By Music
by Lord R.e. Taylor

A new set of headphones
Never used until one night
An old 70’s radio station
Van Halen, Motley Crue, and Ozzy
More power than 2024 can handle
At least they died a good death
Just the way good music planned it

A Harlequin’s Tear

A Harlequin’s Tear
by Lord R.e. Taylor

You have lived as a harlequin
Always smiling and cheerful
You stay behind your make-up
Keeping yourself hidden
Yet, rarely a glimpse of you shines through
A single tear finds its way through
And we get to see the real you

When You Are Gone

When You Are Gone
by Lord R.e. Taylor

Do you have any idea
What it is like when you are gone
I have no idea how long you're away
If you are alright
Or if you are ever coming back
I can’t remind you to say good-bye
But it so much better if you do
Just know that I will sit quietly all day
Just watching the door to see you come in
Or listening for the sound of your engine
Anything so I know that you are home
And that you still love me
