Hey There Old Tree

Hey There Old Tree

Hey there old tree
How long have you been standing there
I know that it is longer than I have been alive
I am sure that there is no one alive who saw you planted
You are part of everyone’s lives
Yet you stand there watching as life passes you by
You have seen sadness of young men leaving for war
And you have seen the smile of so many newborn babes
Still you stay silent
But in your silence, you say so much to so many
And we all pray that you will always be here

Not just for us but for generations to come
