Love Of A Wet Road

Love Of A Wet Road
By Lord R.e. Taylor

On a Spring or Autumn day
Just before the end of a shower
The air is cool enough for a fog
Raindrops glisten in the trees
The road shimmers in the light
And life begins to echo through the trees
However, there is a unique sound
One which only comes at certain times
When tires and the wet road meet as one
A haunting melody drifts up
Filling the air with sounds never heard
Strange and yet somehow comforting
More beauty from a Spring/Autumn day

A Bad Day

A Bad Day
By Lord R.e. Taylor

It does not take much
Just a man or a woman
Having a bad day
Then someone says something
A button is pushed
And a little over thirty minutes later
Ten million people die in a flash of light
They never even know it happened
Never had a chance to say goodbye
All because of someone having a bad day

Because Of A Smile

Because Of A Smile
By Lord R.e. Taylor

So long he was held down
Told that he was worthless
Mistreated and tortured
He lost the person he was
Became a non-entity
Always alone and never wanted
Then one day the Sun rose in the sky
Followed by a rainbow and a miracle
For the first time he saw that there was hope
He saw a woman he had only dreamed about
She walked past and flashed him a smile
Hope turned into strength and strength into freedom
He broke the chains which made him a prisoner
For the first time in his life, he was a man
And he found everything he had never known
All because of the smile of a woman

Tattered Pages

Tattered Pages
By Lord R.e. Taylor

You are a true mystery and an enigma
All wrapped within your pages
No one knows when you were written
Or even who took their time to write you
There is no sense of the travels you had
How many people saw you and read you
Did you make a difference in their lives
Or did you terrorize whole communities
We may never know the legend that is you
But even with all your tattered pages
We are just happy that you are still here
And you will be for as long as we care about you
An unknown part of history which begs to be known

Ukraine

Ukraine
By Lord R.e. Taylor

You have been through so much
More than any people deserve
You have felt pain and loss
Death beyond any measure
But you stayed strong through it all
Ukraine you will never lose
You will stand tall and fight
You will survive and thrive
That is just who you are
And who you always will be

Icarus’ Wings

Icarus’ Wings
By Lord R.e. Taylor

Trying to be happy
Even for just a moment
For him it is impossible
Like Icarus flying too high
He may try and try
Over and over and over again
Just when his dreams are about to be realized
He always loses his wings
That man will never give up
He just makes better wings
Then tries and tries again
Knowing one day he will reach the Sun
And he, for the first time, will be happy

Our Footprints On The Street

Our Footprints On The Street
By Lord R.e. Taylor

It was so many lifetimes ago
We met and fell in love
So many times, we walked this street
With no one else ever around
They were our special trips to paradise
I built up the nerve to tell you I love you
And I asked you to be with me forever
Now, we have both aged
Our lives always together as one
But our pathway is still there
We still walk it every chance we get
Paradise is still our special place
I love you even more than that day
And our footprints on the street proves it

God’s Gift Of Hope

God’s Gift Of Hope
By Lord R.e. Taylor

In a distant town
All hope left the people
There was no one to come help
Nothing was there come and save them
They were all alone except for prayer
God heard their tears and looked down on them
He thought about what he should do
He gave them His sign of hope
A brightly colored rainbow showed up in the sky
That gave the people a shred of hope
For that they were beyond grateful
From that day until modern times
Families share the rainbow of colors
A tribute shown in the colors of umbrellas
A true vision of God’s gift of hope

A Land Destroyed

A Land Destroyed
By Lord R.e. Taylor

Long ago there used to be a land
People were so different
They never hated each other
Things did not offend
Jokes made fun of everything
Everyone laughed at themselves
And they even laughed at each other
There was nothing wrong with that
Everyone was happy
Then the millennium came
That was when the world changed
All ruined by a few “woke’ people
People began getting offended
No one laughed anymore
And that world stopped existing

Writers

Writers
By Lord R.e Taylor

Writing a book doesn’t take much
At least that is what everyone thinks
Maybe hours, days, weeks, months, or years
Sitting alone in front of a keyboard
Ignoring the world around you
Listening to crappy music
Eating tons of Ramen Noodles
And drinking the strongest black coffee
There is never such a thing as sleep
Your mind keeps writing or rewriting the plot
But eventually it always ends
The last words get put into the story
Then the real hell starts
Some editing and a new story
That is the life of every author
And we love it

Standing On Table Rock

Standing On Table Rock
By Lord R.e. Taylor

Standing on Table Rock
The roaring waters
Hearing them crash so far below
The movement is beautiful
Trying to draw you closer
Over the fence and into the water
Only to be washed away
Never to be seen again

The Smiles He Lost

The Smiles He Lost
By Lord R.e. Taylor

His thoughts have changed
He was happy and smiling
That left years ago
As the sadness grew inside of him
And tears replaced the smiles
Life became so unimportant
With a bottle of alcohol and a handful of pills
And having an attitude that didn’t care
Things suddenly became so much better
When he crossed through the gates of Heaven
He once again found his smile
This time he would never lose it
All his pain was gone
And God blessed him

The Three Evils

The Three Evils
By Lord R.e. Taylor

Things have really changed
What we learned no longer works
See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil
That does not mean anything anymore
Evil comes to us 24 hours a day
Non-stop but with commercials
There are no two evils alike
All depending on who you watch
And the way it is all going
The evil we see, hear, and speak
Will be around for quite a while

The Perfect Pic

The Perfect Pic
By Lord R.e. Taylor

Moms and dads love their kids
Everyone knows that they do
Taking pictures all their lives
Most times getting perfect photos
Sometime the kid just looks funny
That is the one photo to last forever

Reflective World

Reflective World
By Lord R.e. Taylor

Look at your world
Brightly lit and shiny
Reflected in a land of glass
Beautifully distorted
Nothing like the real world
Maybe better or maybe not
It is just different
That's all

The Legacy Of Annastacia Palaszczuk MP

The Legacy Of Annastacia Palaszczuk MP

Everyone was doing better
The virus was being held back
December came and life changed
The government stopped caring
Wanting money more than health
Now the virus is back
Making more people sick
Killing so many others
More than ever before
Their murderers don't care
They say that they do
But open borders say otherwise
It is too late now
Too many bodies to count
Still the same government exists
That is the new life on the modern Earth

Small Men

Small Men
By Lord R.e. Taylor

Small men do exist
Maybe it’s their egos
Maybe it’s their penises
Either way they do not care
Attacking innocent people
Killing women and babies
Bombing without sight
They want the world to bend over
Accept them as a god
But everyone knows they are no gods
Just self-important jokes

Those Cursed Few Minutes

Those Cursed Few Minutes
By Lord R.e. Taylor

I don’t know if I like it or not
Those slight few moments
Between being asleep and awake
When your mind works overtime
But you try to shut it down
When the birds are screaming outside
And the sun shines in your face
You know that you want it to go away
But you know that it must be there
So, you sit on the side of the bed
You curse out the day you were born
Still, you make the choice to leave the bed
You start the day because you have to
The entire time you dream of those few minutes
When you crawl back into your bed
The sun is gone, the birds are gone
And you find the quietness you lost
When you were between sleep and awake
For that you give thanks, and you swear
Because you know what it is coming

You Were Important

You Were Important
By Lord R.e. Taylor

Were you a temple
Or maybe a gateway to the gods
Either way you were important
Treasured by many people
Worshipped by many more
And you will be never forgotten
