Christmas In July

Christmas In July
by Lord R.e. Taylor

July is nearly over
We had the 4th of July
Baseball and barbecued hotdogs
Girls in their skimpiest bikinis
All of the traditional July things
But now we have so much more
Christmas trees with sparkling lights
Stockings hung by the chimney with care
And the voices of carollers filling the air
But in the heat of a summer’s night
Santa Claus will be nowhere in sight
For he is taking his well-deserved rest
Lounging in the Bahamas, getting a tan
With a Coke and Cuban rum on his chest
So, you will not see him this July
One last thing before this ends
Santa says have a merry Christmas in July
And hope that feeling never ends

The Southern Rocky Mountain Wolf

The Southern Rocky Mountain Wolf
by Lord R.e. Taylor

Once you were kings living in your millions
You and your kind ruled the mountains
A kingdom granted to you by your bravery
And the skills you held in your hearts
You were the apex of the apex of animals
But that was not long ago now
Almost one hundred years ago
The climate changed and pushed you out
And man killed you by the thousands
Sometimes for trophies or a bounty
Other times, just for the thrill of hunting you
You stopped running through the forest
Your howls went silent as the moon rose
The world had lost you to your extinction
But that may be changing now
Scientists are hoping that they can find you
To rescue you and bring you back to the world
Maybe you would be hiding in a small, isolated valley
Barely scraping by, at least you would still be alive
And the Southern Rocky Mountain Wolf
You may return to your proper place
Ruling once again as the kings of the mountains

A Rock Is Not Just A Rock

A Rock Is Not Just A Rock
by Lord R.e. Taylor

Yes, my friend, it does look like a rock
But it could be so much more
All you have to do is look beyond
Let your mind wander just a little bit
Maybe that rock came to Earth long ago
Bringing with it the stuff of life
It may carry the bodies of the life it created
A record of a time before time itself
Possibly it traveled in the more recent past
Hitching a ride in the ice of a glacier
Cutting new lakes and rivers as it moved
Whatever its history was or whatever stories it has
It has been around for longer than anything else
And that means that you should not look at it as a rock
It is more than that
It is a part of us and always has been
And always will be

The European Street

The European Street
by Lord R.e. Taylor

It is a true beauty
A narrow European street
Lined by aged buildings
Some with tables and chairs
People in love are just staring at each other
Sipping wine and sharing a few kisses
Hundreds of flowers add their colour
Filling the air with their faint scents
And drawing in bees and butterflies
To make the scene a little more perfect

Too Much, Too Many, Too Few

Too Much, Too Many, Too Few
By Lord R.e. Taylor

This world has too many countries
And too many people are living there
It has gotten to where hate is everywhere
People do not want to talk anymore
They just pick up their guns
Build their bombs in their basements
Maybe hold a “peaceful” riot or two
Whenever someone gets hurt or killed
And the world is no better for it
Someday, maybe someone will stop
Long enough to get people to listen
There is nothing wrong with this world
Everything can be fixed with a few words
And a few good people to say them

The Man She Loved

The Man She Loved
by Lord R.e. Taylor

A queen banished from the land she loved
She is still treated with the respect due her
Yet all she can do is watch out a window
Hoping to someday be allowed home
To walk among the people she treasured
And, once again, be with the man she loves

Counting The Days

Counting The Days
by Lord R.e. Taylor

So many days have passed
Too many to count
Not that I would want to know
But the thing to remember
The more days behind me
The fewer there are ahead
But I’m not afraid of that last day
Maybe I will spend that day drinking
Or I may find another way to be in trouble
I can be sure of one thing: I will not sit around
I will not be sad or cry
And I will not allow anyone else to feel that either
I have been here more days than I deserve
So, one more may be one too many
Or it may be one less,
And that may be too few
Who knows and who cares
After all, I might just need the rest

They Don’t All Work

They Don’t All Work
By Lord R.e. Taylor

If there was something dumb to do
He would be the one to do it
Sometimes it would be perfect
Other times, not quite
I guess this time it didn’t work
Because now I have to go see him at the hospital

That Will Be Our End

That Will Be Our End
by Lord R.e. Taylor

There are monsters roaming the streets
Created by the evil of the gods
Strengthened by the stupidity of man itself
They wander aimlessly
Killing anyone or anything that they find
They always look like the rest of us
So, most are unaware they exist
There is no way for us to ever stop them
We are merely their substance
That is our fate until the end of time
To be hunted and killed without hope
After all, we cannot beat the gods
And we cannot defeat man
Not as long as they work together
And that will be our end

A Kid Should Be A Kid

A Kid Should Be A Kid
by Lord R.e. Taylor

I know kids should be kids
Too many parents will not allow it
Be quiet whenever you are around
Don’t play too hard or get dirty
And above all, never ever smile too big
I feel so sorry for kids like that
They do not have parents
They have wardens and guards
I say we should just let a kid be a kid
That is what they were meant to be
Little monsters playing with their friends
Screaming and howling their heads off
Coming home so dirty, you don’t know them
But coming home with the biggest smile ever
If you cannot raise a kid that way
Please just don’t have them
They deserve parents so much better than you

Always Tell A Story

Always Tell A Story
by Lord R.e. Taylor

Everywhere I get to
No matter where it is
There are stories
Some are told loudly
Screamed from the mountaintop
Some are whispered
Barely spoken and barely heard
A few are lost to time
Never told or talked about
Every one of them is worth knowing
And being shared when it is possible
The good thing is if you do share one
It will never be the story you heard
But it may just be your story
And that would make it a bit better

Be Your Real Self

Be Your Real Self
by Lord R.e. Taylor

Your mind works so hard
Maybe only being logical
Maybe you are always creative
But you definitely need a break
There is something you can do
Only if you can dare yourself
Take just a single moment
From a single hour in a single day
Shut down your brain and simply live
Scream as loud as you can
Dance and sing the way you want to
Be the person you are not allowed to be
You might just find out who you really are
And maybe, just maybe, you may like them

No Card Is Needed

No Card Is Needed
by Lord R.e. Taylor

No card is needed
It doesn’t matter who you are or what you look like
Where you come from or what god you worship
The books are there for everyone to read
All we ask is please bring them back when you are done
Every word we have here is a gift for all of us to share

Allow Him To Speak

Allow Him To Speak
By Lord R.e. Taylor

Does he have something to say
Should he be allowed to say it
Maybe he should be censored
Stand around without an opinion
He is told not to offend
Not to say anything against the world
But who knows what he could do
What he would do if he could speak
But he has been beaten down for so long
He may have forgotten what he had to say
And that would be a great loss for a hurting world
