Fire In My Mind

There is a fire always burning

It has very little heat

And even less smoke

Yet it destroys my thoughts

Tears them to pieces right before me

I pray to God to extinguish the flames

Maybe allow my mind to work as it should

I am not asking to have it back forever

Just an hour or even just a moment

Long enough for me to have a single thought

Long enough for me to remember you

And some of the love I had for you

That would be all I would ever need

And all I would ever want

Is that too much to ask for

I do not think so

Her Unique Place

I do have to admire you

You can be so relaxed

Not a thing will bother you

It is as if nothing exists around you

Your entire world is the warm sun

The sound of the birds in the trees

And the cool breeze caressing your face

Somehow, you have found what we all want

A unique place in reality

A minute away from everything

And your very own one-of-a-kind happiness

Please do not let the universe take it away

You may never get it back

That would destroy your very soul

The Three Sisters

Pathways thousands of years old

Walked by so many people

Shaded by a tropical canopy 

With wildlife watching from everywhere

Legends are spoken of sparsely 

Some are better left to the vault of the ages

Yet everyone knows they are safe 

Blessed by idols created when the world was young

Three massive towers of stone

Eternally guarding the valley

The Three Sisters watch for you

They will always protect you

That is their promise and their purpose

That Lonely House

That old house

Tattered and shredded

She may have been abandoned 

So many years ago

She has been left to decay

By people who just didn't care

I found her on a long ride

Sitting there, I could hear it crying

It never asked to be built

Now, all it wants is someone to drive up

Maybe walk on her porch

Or look in the dirty windows

I knew at that moment she was to be mine

Now, she is the one place on the whole planet

The one place my heart can be at peace

Just relaxing in the most beautiful place ever

One Country, One Saviour

The world is falling apart.

Allied leaders stand back,

Calling it someone else’s problem.

History remembers when that happened last—

When Germany and Japan advanced unchecked.

Europe might speak German today.

Australia might speak Japanese.

But one nation intervened,

Turning the tide without complaint.

Now those same nations turn away again.

Next time, that nation may not answer.

And only in its absence

Will they understand what they lost.

Woman Of Darkness

Who is she

Why does she hide in the darkness

Does she have something to hide

Or does her hatred consume her

She never says a word

Just watches with her sharpened claws

Maybe she is waiting for evil

Or maybe she wants to destroy good

There is no way of knowing

How many bodies has she destroyed

Or how many souls she has kidnapped

All we can do is cry for the lost

And pray that she will never find us
