Powerless

Powerless

by Lord R.e. Taylor

The bill was paid

I swear it was

But the power is not working

I have lived seventy years with power

Everything worked 90% of the time

But ages ago we did not have a lot

Just a few electrical items

So, if there was an outage, it would be no big deal

We always had things to do

Now, we have computers in every room

Just as many big screen televisions

And a kitchen full of electronic crap

Honestly. It may be a little too much

When the power is out, we just sit

Staring around a room which doesn’t work

Even a half an hour is the purest of tortures

Only when the power returns

We feel that we are still alive

And we feel human once again

Swooping Season

Swooping Season
by Lord R.e. Taylor

Everyone knows you
You wait for springtime
Squawing as loud as you can
You know you a being watched
People scared of you
Your murderous personality
Only coming out on the first of spring
Walking, riding a bike  or driving a car
Even chilling on a park bench
Everyone is a target for you
Luckily that does not last too long
You fade away for nine months
But we remember and we still hide
And  we pray that you will fly away

The Man Who Arrived With No Past

The Man Who Arrived With No Past
by Lord R.e. Taylor

The day he disappeared
One time of his ended
Another started at that instant
There have never been messages
No rumours about him
And his name was never spoken
When his new time started
He ceased  existing in the universe
Only to appear somewhere he never knew
No thoughts or memories
He was someone new
Creating a brand new world
Built just for him and him alone
