Between Heaven & Earth

Between Heaven & Earth

Look down
Beneath the clouds
So many stars
All in galaxies across the land
Ships travel through paths of light
Red, yellow and green start flash
Keeping a perfect rhythm
Such beauty hidden from view
Yet it is there all around us
It is just sad that we can’t see it
Unless we are floating
High above the Earth
Still not yet in Heaven

Outback Sunset

Outback Sunset

Sitting under an old gum tree
The one down by the creek
Miles away from the road
My truck got me there
Just as if it had a heart of its own
The girl I love at my side
And a Mason Jar full of Aussie moonshine in my hand
Fog rolls in over the meadows
As the sun turns from white to a deep red
I am so happy to be here to experience it
To live to see the truest beauty of Heaven
Paradise couldn’t be any better than an Outback sunset

Lost Love

Lost Love

You have no idea how much I love you
I have dreamed of you
Wished for you on every star
I have seen your dreams
Felt your happiness
And your fears
It took so long to talk to you
Even longer to express my feelings
Now you are my life
You are my future and my past
You are my everything
Now you have gone
God has taken you from me
My dreams, wishes and life
They all went with you
And I am left alone

Beauty

Beauty

Do you know that you are beautiful
Has anyone told you so
Your body is not a size 3
Nor should it be
You are the perfect you
Diets and fads would ruin who you are
Your smile reflects your beauty
Your eyes show the fantastic soul you have
Do not pay attention to the ads
Do not compare yourself to a starving model
You are not what ignorant people see
You are the woman you should be
You are beautiful

The Story Writes Itself

The Story Writes Itself

If I am in my dark place
It is where I choose to be
Do not try to make me smile
I do not want to laugh
Just leave me alone
I want to experience it all
Soak in where my mind took me
Learn what the darkness teaches
I will bring it back with me
Share it with the pen
As I write the darkness will come out
The story will write itself
The words will appear on their own
And the story will be told

Indecision

Indecision

So many choices to make
My head aches
My heart pounds
My lips are so dry
Who decided to make it so hard
To allow us to choose
Trying to make up my mind
One is right
The other is wrong
It is up to me
Still they force me to decide
How am I to know
Do I listen to my heart
Are other people right
Hours pass as my mind falls apart
I have to choose
Which do I want
Coke or Pepsi
Neither actually
I think I’ll have a beer

Travels of My Mind

Travels of My Mind

My mind has travelled so far
It left my body behind
Doing what it desires
It wanders the universe
Collecting ideas from other lands
Alien to us mortals on Earth
Only it knows what it will see
What it has seen
It tells me in my dreams
Such wild vivid images
Colors and sounds that are new
Unknown by artists and musicians
Lands of fire and the darkest smoke
And others covered with ancient ice
Vegetative paradises
Alive with plants that touch the skies
Such strangely beautiful animals
Scents that drive my body to the edge
Trying to push it in a valley of ecstasy
This world where my body resides
The world of my home is so primitive
It cannot compare to what I have experienced
What my mind brings me as I sleep

I Am All

I Am All

You look at me
You think you know me
I have long hair
A greying moustache
And I wear old tee shirts
In your eyes I am a biker
Violent and hateful
Talk to me one time
Know me before you judge me
You will learn
I am white
I am black
I am red and yellow
I am brown
I am a man
I am a woman
I am a child
I am a Christian
I am a Jew
I am a Muslim
I am Buddhist and I am Hindi
I am a Pagan
I am every person you have ever met
Everyone you have judged
Everyone you have loved
Everyone you constantly hate
Yes, I am you
And I am me
I am a Human being
And that is all I want to be

He Lives Alone

He Lives Alone

The mystical stag
Raising from the thicket
Wandering the woods
Under the light of a waning moon
He walks with the gods
Nature’s mightiest warrior
Born with the ultimate swords
He defends his forests
The meadows where he roams
He is a supreme male
A king among God’s animals

Yet, he lives alone

The Old Man In the Mirror

The Old Man In the Mirror

I look at the mirror
The man I see looking back
He is not me
I do not have bags under my eyes
The wrinkles were never there before
I have always been a young man
I guess that was so long ago
Now my hair is greying
The hair that remains that is
The lines of age covers my face
How did I get so old
When did my youth fall away
I do not like the man I see in the mirror
He is not me
