Sometime

Sometime
By R.e. Taylor

Sometime
Everyone needs a space
Away from the world
Just to be themselves
To be alone
To think
To dream
And create new beauty

A Long Time Gone

A Long Time Gone

I haven’t seen you in so long
An argument that shouldn’t have happened
Kept us from loving each other
A mistake that shook the universe
But after a half of a century
We found each other
Spoke to each other
Shared pictures
And planned to reunite
Now the time has finally come
Tomorrow will be that special moment
Just one flight
No more than three hours long
When we finally depart
My mind fills with thoughts of you
And my heart beats so fast
It beats out of my chest
When we see each other again for the first time
And our arms wrap around each other
Again, I will kiss the lips from my youth

And again, I will fall in love

Books Will Never Die

Books Will Never Die

Books are as human as we are
Starting with the stones
Engraved by the Sumerian scribes
Through the parchment scrolls
Written by the Greeks
Stored in a library in Alexandria
Monks copied books by hand
Then the printing press was invented
And the masses began reading
Learning and dreaming
Books have lasted centuries
Finally replaced by bits and bytes
Still people love the feel of the printed page
Whether old or new
The smell of a book is happiness
A bookmark between yellowing pages
The crack of a fresh binding
Real books will never die
They have been here for thousands of years
As long as someone loves the written word
And they will be alive for an eternity more

Mountain Boys

Mountain Boys
By R.e. Taylor

Mountain boys
Locked in a prison
One that once ruled their fathers
Grandfathers and everyone they knew
Never seeing the sun
They survive deep underground
Breathing poison gasses
And dust which kills them
But they know that is their life
When the day is done
Most return home to their families
Too tired to be with friends
Other become buried
Surrounded by tons of rock
They gasp for needed air
While their bosses worry about their money
Such is the life for mountain boys
Spending their lives in a dark coal mine
Never knowing if they will survive
To work another day
In their own dark, cold hell

Dirty Knees

Dirty Knees

You don’t know it yet
Your time is way too short
Play the way you want to
Run across the meadows
Jump in the summer sun
And let your knees get dirty
You are a little girl
A free spirit
Blessed with energy and excitement
And an innocence to see the world
So be who you are
Your time is short
The day will come when you are grown
With a job and a child
And, on the toughest days
You will remember when you ran and jumped
When you loved getting your knees dirty
And maybe you will smile
When your daughter comes home with dirty knees

Friduwulf

Friduwulf

Abandoned by his pack
Friduluf wander the forest alone
From cub to full-fledged wolf
He fought and scraped to survive
Many times he was nearly killed
And many times he killed
All because of who he was
His legend grew
As he became more vicious
Until he met a young child
Innocent and sweet
He knew nothing of Friduwulf
Nor did he care
He just saw a friend he had not met
Despite the growls and the fangs
The child stood and smiled
And Friduwulf learned something new
Not everyone wanted to hurt him
There were some who loved
And when the child reached out
Friduwulf smiled and moved closer
And he allowed himself to be hugged

And he found love in the arms of a little child

Temptation Of Eden

Temptation  Of Eden

Eve gave in
When the serpent in the tree
Treated her to the first temptation
She bit into the fruit of knowledge
And the apple took the rap
Releasing the sins of the world
And casting the couple out of Eden
Their story is still told
Over and over since the beginning of time
The first villains
Became the first heroes
For freeing us from eternal paradise
And allowing man to grow as it should
And, even know, there is an admiration
For those two people who surrendered
Used their free-will

And left Eden to give us our future

Morning Dew

Morning Dew

Breezes blow up the valley
Carrying a barely seen veil
Moisture from a distant sea
Falling on every living thing
Making them sparkle in the rising sun
Creating diamonds on every leaf
Tears dripping from every petal
Happiness and sadness
Both happening at the same time
Either way, the beauty is always there
Shining in the morning sun

The Way There

The Way There

A million people
Walk on asphalt and cement paths
Through valleys of glass and steel
They find corners to make a choice
And they only take them to other corners
And more choices
It is an endless circle
Some spend their whole lives
Walking and searching for a magical land
With fields of grass and flowers
Trees making shade in the Summer sun
And a lake surrounded by laughing children
To most it is just a story
A hopeful tale shared by parents
But, for those who search long enough
Persevere through time and space
The oasis in the concrete desert is real
A place of dreams and pleasure

And they will never forget the way there

Untitled

So many people have told me
Wisdom from ages ago
“When Hell freezes over!”
They said expecting us to know
Snow covering the burning rocks
Towers of ice and canyons through the snow
Mixing colours of white and blue
When the leaves die
And the snows fall in the north
Covering the world as it lies
The wisdom from long ago comes true
And Hell is frozen at least for a few months

Thorns And Blood

Thorns And Blood

I have known you all your life
You were so pretty when you were small
But, over time pretty turned into beauty
A beautiful face
A beautiful mind
And a beautiful heart
How could I not fall in love with you
Even though I didn’t look deep into you
I did truly love you
But, you beauty hid vicious thorns
Words created to do subtle harm
Actions meant to leave you soul bloody
No longer wanting to be with you
I do no one thing
You are worth evading the thorns
And my soul will survive
As long as I can be with you

A Few Moments

A Few Moments

In the few moments
I allow myself to relax
Not think of anything
My mind floats
Like a balloon on the breezes
Touching the beauty
And the calmness of the sky
While floating above the desolation
And the hopeless of the blank world below
Happily, I drift between the two realities
Experiencing both happiness and sadness
Creating memories I will always have

Memories made in just a few moments
