Books Will Never Die

Books Will Never Die

Books are as human as we are
Starting with the stones
Engraved by the Sumerian scribes
Through the parchment scrolls
Written by the Greeks
Stored in a library in Alexandria
Monks copied books by hand
Then the printing press was invented
And the masses began reading
Learning and dreaming
Books have lasted centuries
Finally replaced by bits and bytes
Still people love the feel of the printed page
Whether old or new
The smell of a book is happiness
A bookmark between yellowing pages
The crack of a fresh binding
Real books will never die
They have been here for thousands of years
As long as someone loves the written word
And they will be alive for an eternity more
