Dreams

Dreams

Hey little girl
When you are so sound asleep
What are your dreams
Do you dream of flowers and fairies
Or do you dream of castles and knights
Is the one who got away in your dreams
Is it the one you love who you see
Do your dreams make you smile inside
Do they bring out tears you cannot hide
Are secret truth revealed to you alone
Or are there desires which you will never fill
I wish I could be in your dreams
So, I could share your happiness
Or protect you from the sadness you create
But, you are all alone in your journey of sleep
You will cry and laugh
Maybe you will even find that you do not want to leave
Little girl, just remember that I am here when you awake
And I will listen if you decide to share
Until then sleep safe

And may your dreams be the ones you want

Witch’s Story

Witch’s Story

You were evilest of the evil
Controlling earth, wind, fire and water
Your kind persecuted young children
And brought virtuous men into sin
You were hunted by good men
Tried on the filmiest of evidence
And burned surrounded by jeers and drinking
But times have changed ever so slowly
Your kind still exists
Gone are the stereotypes of so long ago
You are no longer feared or hated
You still belong to nature
And you teach others of your beliefs
Wicca is a miracle in itself
Surviving persecution and death
It became a symbol of love, faith and peace

And you are proud to be a witch

The Raven

The Raven
By R.e. Taylor

I know who you are
I know who sent you
But, it was a wasted trip
I have decided not to go
Not to let my live slip away
As you wrap your wings around me
Scream if you wish
I will never listen
I am going to stay
So, you may leave and tell your master
My soul is mine until I give it away
And raven, that will be a long time from now
A long time after he has taken yours
I promise you that

Anonymous In A Bar

Anonymous In A Bar

I really don’t want to be presumptuous
I have been in the bar so many times
Admiring your every breath
Watching your reflection in the mirror
I so much want to talk to you
To touch your hand
And kiss your ruby lips
But for now, at least, I will remain anonymous
And wait for the day I am worthy

And then I will love you

Greta Garbo

Greta Garbo
by R.e. Taylor

I know you wish to be anonymous
To never be seen again
But the world will not allow that to happen
I know it may be presumptuous of me to say
At one time, you were a beauty beyond compare
A talent that anyone else would only envy
You may have lost your looks and your talent
And you locked yourself away because of it
But Miss Garbo you are still hiding in there
Just look at your reflection and you will see her
And I know that she still loves her fans
So, just once before you die
Come out into the open
Leave your fears behind
And just tell us the good bye you never told us
We may cry but not for our loss
We will cry because we will know you still care
And that will be what we will remember about you

A New World

A New World
By R.e. Taylor

The world is a beautiful place
White clouds drifting in a clear sky
Birds and flowers in infinite colors
And fields of bright greens
But there is so much lost in the colors
Added dimensions only shown in black and white
The deepness of the black shadows
The greys of the midtones
And the whites of pure light
Sometime take a look at the world
Not through the eyes God has given you
But with a mind not fooled by color

And you will appreciate the world in a new way

Mom

Mom
By R.e. Taylor

Mom
I have missed you for so long
You left before I was grown
Before I had the chance to learn from you
To ask you the questions I needed to ask
I know that it was not your fault
You would have never left us on your own
I guess God needed you more than we did
But still I miss you and I still dream of you
I am here looking at all of the candles people have lit
For their friends or relatives
And I take a match a light one of my own just for you
The flame will not be a memorial for you
Mom, it is a light to show you the way back
Back to the son you nearly lost sixty years ago
And to the heart and mind where you have always lived

We Will Be Together

We Will Be Together
R.e. Taylor

Darling’, I am going out tonight
My buddy called and he needs my help
And Darlin’ I may end up in a fistfight
We’re going to get drunk and that the truth

And the bar we might just ignite
I ain’t going to try to be witty
I know it’s nearly twilight
And I have to leave

My buddy and I are going to be dynamite
But we will be happy for the first time in a while
And our friendship will reignite
In the jail or in the hospital we will be one

The Unknown Confederate

The Unknown Confederate

We’ll never know his name
He was born an American
A son of the US
A son of the South
Politicians decided his fate
Drew a line between the states
He fought for the side he was given
We do not know how he died
And that really doesn’t matter
We know he died defending his homeland
He was a Confederate soldier
But, he was still an American
And he was and will be a hero

Freedom Ship

Freedom Ship

There is a ship floating in the harbor
It has a long history behind it
Hauling hundreds of starving people
Men, women and children
Loaded in the ship’s belly
Fleeing from torture and death
They cried and mourned for those left behind
Thinking about how their loved ones must live
But this ship had a long tradition
When they brought its passengers to land
The Captain would turn on every light
To let freedom know those people were coming
And to give everyone the hope they never knew
And that hope grew as they stepped onto land
That special would not wait
It left again immediately, with its lights out

Looking for more people who need to be saved

Walk Into Nature

Walk Into Nature

If you ever get a chance
Turn away from your world
Leave it all behind
For a moment
For a day or forever
Find a place where nature lives
Walk into the forest
And don’t look back
Look into the trees
On the ground
And all around you
You will find a new world
Where stress does not exist
Schedules no longer matter
You will find the real you
And you can take that with you

In your memories and in your heart

God's Will

God’s Will

Sometimes you just have to ask
A question you are not supposed to ask
You have to wonder what is God doing
Is He sitting on His mighty throne
Is He creating new stars and planets
Is He writing new scripture for us to learn
Or is He sitting on our cold, lifeless crescent moon
Looking down at the world He created
At the leaders of so many countries
He probably hates the free will He gave us
Then, He looks at our wars and pollution
And He asks, ‘What in the hell did I do?’
Not waiting for an answer
He waves His mighty hand
And all man is gone and a replacement chosen
God smiles as he crowns the new rulers of Earth
And the planet of the cockroaches is born

The Gunfight

The Gunfight
By R.e. Taylor

It was a dreadful day
Black clouds hung low
Thunder echoed around
And the rain fell in sheets
Still I was on the street
Standing in the mud
Facing a man who had killed too many
He drew as fast as lightning
A flash of light
A stabbing pain in my chest
I never had a chance
So I became another notch
And an unmarked grave
Up in Boot Hill
And that is how I’ll be remembered
Just another man killed on a muddy street

The Rock Life

The Rock Life
R.e. Taylor

At one time you were the king of rock
Tracks every few minutes on the radio
Your fame was a lock
And you played with endless gusto
Guitar riffs beyond mortal man
Made women cry and men weak
Your fame was something no one could plan
Everyone saw you as a mystique
But even that could not last
One day your fame faded
And everything you worked for was a blast
With all that you have your life and that makes you blessed

Almighty Lord

Almighty Lord

Almighty lord
You are the king of the forests
The plants, water, animals, and air
Man has tried to destroy you land
Killing all the trees around you
Still, you stand proud and defiant
The forest still lives on in your soul
Your regal antlers
They become the hope for the forest
Calling the birds forth to sing their songs
Letting the world know that your forest will not die
Will not be killed for man’s profits
One day soon, or maybe not so soon
The forests will return
The plants, water, animals, and air
Will all return to normal
And they will honor you almighty lord
For you are the one who never gave up
You are the one who fought
And you are the one who gave them back their homes

Thank you, Lovely Garcia for the beautiful picture

Perfection

Perfection
R.e. Taylor

I am not perfect
I have never been perfect
And I will never be perfect
I do not look for perfection in others
It is not sexy
It is not beautiful
To me it is not even appealing
I love to see the scars
The wrinkles and the lumps
And the marks other cannot stand
They are what makes beauty
They are what makes character
They are what make us humans
Although that isn’t perfection
It is the best we can be

I Have A Muse

I Have A Muse
By R.e. Taylor

I have a muse
She is with my every breath
My faith in her always continues
And it will until my death
Every word she tells me I will inscribe
I will leave it for everyone to see
Even it is sounds like a diatribe
When I die engrave my best on my block of stone
And place her name beneath the quote
Let everyone know of the muse who never left me alone

Love Of My Life

Love Of My Life

There has always been a devilish you
Anyone can see it in your eyes
You have a playful side
That anyone would relish
I have seen that sparkle
I am not sure if it is love or friendship
But I know that it is a fire in your soul
And it makes me happy to share it
You have no idea what you do to me
When we hold hand
Or cuddle to a slow song
Or when you cry at an airline commercial
And when we share a kiss
I know exactly who you are
You may be a devil or an angel or a clown

But I know for sure that you are the woman I love

Valley Of Memories

Valley Of Memories

When I was a child
A hillside was for running
Down the side to the creek in the valley
Then the long climb back to the top
Only to run down again and again
Then, when I became an adult
There was no more running
Just walks and picnics with the one I loved
Holding hands and talking all afternoon
Finally watching the sun set across the valley
Now, my brown hair has been replaced
By the silvery tints of age
I still go to that hillside
And I look at the flowers and feel the breeze
And I remember the times I had
The wind in my hair as I ran down
The exhaustion when I had to walk back up
And the love I felt when I told her I loved her
But those times are long gone
The hillside is still there
Waiting for the next child to run
The next lovers to kiss

And new memories to be made
