All She Can Do Is Watch

She was created so long ago
An angel to watch over the world
She saw so much evil
But, she knew that it would end
Once man got some smarts
It would end
Lately, though there has been more
Violence, hatred, bigotry and ignorance
Not created from any reasoning
Just uncontrolled emotions
The world itself has changed
Maybe angered by what is happening
Storms, hurricanes and earthquakes
Men, women children and animal
Displaced, hurt and dying
Yet, all she can do is watch
Except that God gave her one gift
She feels the sadness
She cries in mourning for us all
And a single tear flows down her cheek
No matter how she feels
How much she wants to help

All she can do is watch
