The Weeping Angel Of The Forest

The Weeping Angel Of The Forest

She was placed there so long ago
Her job was to protect an ancient forest
But man came in and saw the beauty of the land
The forest was not something they wanted
So, they came in with saws and axes
Cutting down the trees by the hundreds
And when they finished only a very few were left
The angel still watches over her charges
But now her eyes are full of bitter tears
Instead of the life and hope they once held
She will remain in the forest she loves
Surrounded by the children she has protected
Always showing the mourning she feels
She has been given a name which truly fits her
She is The Weeping Angel Of The Forest

And her remaining children are safe as long as she lives
