Give A Smile

Give A Smile

You look at him
Sitting alone
Never with a smile
He has so much hidden pain
So many worries and troubles
And no on to talk to
So, his tears hide inside
Never to be shown
But all of the time he hopes
That someone will just say hello
And maybe greet him with a smile
That small gesture would make his day
And you may get a smile back
And make your own day too

Unfinished Bridge

Unfinished Bridge

My walk started long ago
It has taken me many places
Has seen me do so many things
Some of my paths were good
Others lead me to my many mistakes
But they all lead me to a moment of choice
Whether to choose the longer road
The one which leads to heaven
Or the other which would lead me to damnation
But my choice will have to wait
The time is not right for me to go
So, I will stand on the unfinished bridge
And I will look across at two worlds
Someday I know I will have to choose
But not today

Not until my bridge is finished

Their World Is Gone

Their World Is Gone

Their world was so green
Grasses, trees and animals
Flourished in the warm Sun
Fish came from abundant streams
And lakes filled to their limits
Then the gods became angry
Man had over-used the land
Dammed the streams
And polluted the lakes
The Sun shone hotter than ever
The rains left for distant lands
And even the last blade of grass died
Now the land is just a desert
Where only a few fight to survive
But, for them, death would be a blessing

As their world dies around them
