Thoughts I Never Wanted

Thoughts I Never Wanted

A thousand thousand thoughts in my mind
Every time I close my eyes they come out to play
Some are telling me to do things I could do
Others tell me things which I would never do
Memories of times I would rather forget
Dreams of a future I can never achieve
And what awaits me when my mind is gone
They are all painful as they tear me apart
Shredding my mind into a billion pieces
I know that there is one way for them to stop
A bottle of pills and a half bottle of booze
They would chase the thoughts away
And never allow them to return again

Watching You

Watching You

I have been watching you
I have been listening to you
You may not know it
But it’s true just the same
You have shown that you never cared
You hated yourselves and your children
Most of all you hated life
Human, animal or plants
Nothing was worth saving
Yeah, you talked and shouted
You marched in the streets
And left tons of garbage behind you
Maybe you should just look around
See what this world has given you
Then just talk to each other
After all you need this world
We need the world
It does not need you
And we do not need you
So, change while you can
I will be watching you
I will be listening
And I will stop you if I have to

The White Pumpkin

The White Pumpkin

A farmer tends his field
Vines grow and wrap around each other
Giant white flowers bloom in the heat of summer
Butterflies and bees dance from flower to flower
Spreading the pollen from male to female
Inseminating to create the next generation
Weeks later the children arrive
They laugh and giggle as they run among the orange pumpkins
Each one takes their favorite home for carving or pie
One pumpkin is born small, oddly shaped with a white skin
It sits alone by the wooden fence as the rest are taken
The day before Halloween one child comes for a visit
Out of the dozens of pumpkins still waiting the child chose the small white one
His parents point out all the beauty around him
The child doesn’t change his mind or his heart
He spoke of the one he wanted
“This one is like me,” he said as he lifted it into his wheelchair
That was all that had to be said
The white pumpkin was loved by a little boy
A little boy who knew what it was like to be different
He knew what it was like to be loved
And now, so did that small, oddly shaped pumpkin with a white skin

My Old Soul

My Old Soul

My soul was created when man was new
Two hundred thousand years ago
Born between the lightness of Heaven
And the Eternal fires of Hell
I knew the best and the worst of each
I went from person to person
Billions and billions and billions
Sharing my knowledge with all
But I was sure that those who followed me
They would know the difference
They would know right from wrong
And they would choose accordingly
Time went by and man slowly changed
Forgetting which traits came from where
Ignoring everything I had to teach
My soul was created when man was new
And man has learned so much
But he has forgotten so much more

The Treasure I Found

The Treasure I Found

I knew it was wrong
The temptation was too great
It was so beautiful
Sitting only inches from my hand
The glass was cut just right
It looked like a perfect diamond
There was no way to resist
No way to let it pass
I had to make it mine
A second later
A lifetime later it was mine
I swear I will treasure that little saltshaker
And it will have a forever home
Sharing a cabinet with all the other treasures
The ones I gathered when temptation took over
And the waitress wasn't looking

My Gift From God

My Gift From God

I knew you were an angel
An answer to my prayers
Sent down from Heaven
To love a lonely man
I never knew what you had to give up
The sacrifice God required from you
The moment when you gave up your wings
I knew then that we were meant to be
You will always be an angel to me
Blessed by Heaven and shared with me
For that I will always thank God
Because He gave me his best
And I am eternally grateful to Him

I Will Love You Tomorrow

I Will Love You Tomorrow

I swore I would love you tomorrow
That was so many tomorrows ago
But, I knew then and I know now
My love for you will never die
And no matter how many todays
Yesterdays or tomorrows I have to wait
I will once again look into your eyes
I will take your hands and look into your eyes
And I will tell you once again
I will swear on my immortal soul
I will love you tomorrow and always

You Are You

You Are You
By R.e. Taylor

You are you
The best you can be
The time has come
Let yourself free
Become the animal you are
Scream and let us know you
Make us hear you
Get our attention
Show us all what you can do
You may surprise yourself
Remember that you are you
And no one can take that away

Autumn

Autumn

The world is changing
At least your little part
It will not change your life
And it will not take long
Just a month or two
The green you knew
The warm breezes
And the flowers of the garden
They will all be happy memories
The ambers, golds and oranges
The colours of the leaves on the ground
A cool wind at your bedroom window
The pumpkins on everyone’s porches
And the ever-present threat of snow
Autumn has come and it is going to stay
It will be there only a short time
But the warm sun will be back
And it will only take six months
All you have to do is wait
