A Day Of Dread

A Day Of Dread
By R.e. Taylor

The day will come
There is no question
No one will be ready
Still, everyone waits
Screaming and praying
Hoping that it will not come
No matter what you try
But it will come
There is nothing you can do
So, just surrender yourself
Fighting it may be worse
Your mother-in-law is coming
And you ARE going to suffer
May the torture end quickly
You know in you heart
That will not happen
Just accept it and die with honour
That is your only choice

Tribute To A Crocus

Tribute To A Crocus
By R.e. Taylor

No one knows your there
Standing guard beneath the snow
Waiting through the coldest cold
Letting snow pile up on you
And finally melts away again
You are the most important plant around
When you finally break through
You feel the warmth of the Sun
Singing a song, no Human can hear
You tell every plant in the land
Spring has come and life begins again
Then when the world is green and flowering
You sleep again until the time comes again
And you awaken to start life all over again

Writing For You

Writing For You
By R.e. Taylor

You think it looks easy
Writing down the words you read
We spend hours choosing the words
Putting them in the right order
Hoping that they make sense
Maybe they will let you feel
If we do our jobs right
You may smile or cry
You may never stop reading it
Any way we are glad you enjoyed it
And we will write more for you
Just you wait and see what we do for you
We promise you won’t be disappointed

Love At The Movies

Love At The Movies
By R.e. Taylor

It was so long ago
The two of them would meet
Get together for a beautiful film
It didn’t matter what it was
Although they would rarely see it
A few kisses and cuddles
And maybe they fell in love
But that would last until “The End”
Then it would be over
Until the movie started the next week

Being All Alone

Being All Alone
By R.e. Taylor

He has been alone for so long
Everyone he knew went away
No phone calls or messages
Not even anyone to share a beer
He had no where to go
And no one to love
It took a long time
He watched as his mind began to go
Memories were replaced by thoughts
They were thoughts he didn’t want to have
But they made so much sense to him
They became more frequent and stronger
One day he could take them no more
A short walk down to his favorite memory
He walked to the dock where he used to fish
So many days with his father
Laughing and talking while they just sat together
The Blood Moon said that the time had come
He took one more step and he was gone

Small World, Small Problems

Small World, Small Problems
By R.e. Taylor

We live in a big world
So many of us
Maybe too many
And we do have big world problems
But look in a dew drop
A small world
Smaller than you could imagine
There is no politics or hatred
No violence or bigotry
All you see is world of trees and sky
And maybe some flowers
If they have any problems
They are just small world problems
And they can always be solved
So, why can’t we solve ours

Go Ahead And Cry

Go Ahead And Cry
By R.e. Taylor

It doesn’t matter what they say
They don’t know what do to
If you are a man or a woman
A boy or a girl
It is alright to cry
There is no need for pride
No need to worry about self-image
Crying can help you in so many ways
So, let your emotions flow
Don’t ever try to hold back
Just let it all go
Let your tears run down your cheek
And be human for a change
And not an emotionless drone
With too much pride to be you

My Demons Tell Me

My Demons Tell Me
By R.e. Taylor

I don’t want anywhere quiet
My body could not handle it
My demons would be screaming
Telling me all I did wrong
How I said the wrong thing somewhere
How I smoke and drink too much
How my ideas are not the right ones
How I am too much of a failure
Telling my that my life is not mine
I have to watch what I say
And who I say it to
The thing is I know my demons are right
I am not the kind of person I should be
But I don’t really care what they say
I am me and that is all I can be

The Cabbage Patch

The Cabbage Patch
By R.e. Taylor

She was well into her thirties
Never been married
Never even been on a date
Ever since she turned sixteen
She wandered around the cabbage patch
Looking under every leaf
She listens carefully
Trying to hear a baby’s cry
But the only sounds she ever hears
Are her tears falling to the ground
As she realizes that she is all alone
And she always will be

The Long Train Ride

The Long Train Ride
By R.e. Taylor

My trip has been so long
Hours and years on this train
Passing through parts of my life
Without stopping or even slowing
I was only allowed to watch
Staring through the dirty windows
I tried hard to find the good times
But I could see the bad ones so clearly
They also just flew by
Just as I expected
Now the tracks are coming to an end
My ride is nearly over
And I am glad to get off this train
I just hope it doesn’t crash before it ends
I don’t think I could handle that

Looking For Treasure

Looking For Treasure
By R.e. Taylor

I want to go out
Spend the day treasure hunting
No, I don’t need no map
Don’t need no “X” marks the spot
I will find it all on my own
I want to search the backstreets
The alleyways where no one goes
Maybe find an old bookstore
Not one of those mass-market stores
No neon light or organized shelves
I want books on the floor, on pine shelves
And someone who understand books
Their the ones who should be running the place
And I sure don’t want me no Stephen King
No Anne Rice or Dean Coontz
I want me some Douglas Adams, Louis L’Amour
And for sure some Agatha Christie
I will keep looking for that bookstore
Searching day and day for years
I know it’s there
It has to be
I just have to find it.

Angel Wings

Angel Wings
By R.e. Taylor

Cold winds from the North
Chilling people to the bone
But it is a blessed time
Where beauty changes with the winds
And rarely God shows His love
With a pair of angel wings
Surrounding His setting Sun
Few can ever see them
But those who do
They know that God is watching
And He cares
Even in Wintertime

Finding Home

Finding Home
By R.e. Taylor

He doesn’t want to be where he is
Staying in one place too long
The boredom comes quickly
And he knows there is so much out there
So much that he hasn’t seen
So much he has to see
So, planes, trains and automobiles
They become his life
He sees everyplace he wants to see
And ends up where he wants to be
Somewhere he can call home

Teach Imagination

Teach Imagination
By R.e. Taylor

We can share
Teach youngsters
Tell the stories
Colour with them
And listen to their stories
There may be a monster
One only they can see
Believe them
Share your story about it
Children need to learn
They need us to teach them
An imagination is good to have
It will make their life so much better
And a lot more colourful
After allreality sucks

All In A Moment

All In A Moment
By R.e. Taylor

Streets full of by beautiful buildings
Some as old as the country itself
Statues of heroes past
Stand in the town square
All destroyed in a moment of madness
Mere crumbling shells now stand
Unrecognizable from before
The city is dead
As are most of the people who lived there
There are some though who have hope
But they are few and far between
Everything is gone because of insanity
Maybe someday the people will grow up
Settle their arguments peacefully
If only another moment will never happen
But that is not likely
Not as long as Humans rule the planet

You Are A Phoenix

You Are A Phoenix
By R.e. Taylor

Girl
You are being bullied
Tortured everyday
Just because you are smaller
Let them tease you
Let them push you down
Let them call you names
You can take it
There is a phoenix inside of you
A mighty warrior
Which will rise from the ashes
Your soul will become stronger
Your heart will be stronger
And no one will ever hurt you again
You will become the phoenix
You will fly above your pain
And you will never experience it again

A Masterpiece On Skin

A Masterpiece On Skin
By R.e. Taylor

Talent cannot be given
It cannot be shared
And should never be hidden
Talent comes from a place
Unknown to all of us
It is given to many
But only a few know it is a treasure
Fewer yet truly know how to use it
When you find that person you know it
Such a talent can do so much with a little
And so much more when they start with beauty
One such talent can take a beautiful woman
Then, with her heart and imagination
And some beautiful colors
Take her subject to a place of perfection
A masterpiece on skin

Lightning And Thunder

Lightning And Thunder
By R.e. Taylor

I see the lightning
I can hear the thunder
I do not know where it is
Is it in the skies around me
Tearing the clouds apart
Or is it inside my head
Destroying my mind
How can I know

Left All Alone

Left All Alone
By R.e. Taylor

Born in the twenties
He grew proud and strong
A star in football and track
He was a very popular boy
Leaving home right after school
He fought the Germans and Japanese
Wounded a few times
He came home a hero
Married his high school sweetheart
Three kids and five grandkids later
He lost his one true love
His fingers began to go first
Then he lost his hips and knees
He began to not hear so well
And he couldn’t read the funniest anymore
Then his mind began to fade away
So, now he sits in his chair everyday
Staring out into a world he cannot enjoy
He can remember in his lucid moments
The live he had so long ago
Now, he can only talk enough to ask one thing
“Did anyone come to see me today?”
The answer is always no
No one ever comes to see the old man
They have forgotten him and his life
So, he will sit alone for the rest of his life
Sometimes he prays in his clearer moments
He asks that he will be gone soon
Hopefully, he will get his wish
And he will be that young man again
Finding the love of his life
When they meet in Heaven

Wishes

Wishes
R.e. Taylor

Find a four-leaf clover
Wish on a star
Pray to your god
Break a wishbone
Everything supposed to help
To grant wishes
So many people wish
Most for needs to live
The wishes never come true
People suffer
People die
Their wishes are out there
Somewhere in a fantasy
Waiting for someone to notice
Until then nothing gets done
But you all keep wishing
You all keep hoping
See where that gets you
Nowhere except the grave
