The Bell Strikes Twelve

The Bell Strikes Twelve

By Lord R.e. Taylor

The bell rings twelve times

And the torches fade to darkness

Spirits of the slain and tortured

They rise from their unmarked graves

Howling with pain and grief

Looking for the few who harmed them

They punish anyone they find

Finding the revenge, they seek

Not with desired deaths

Preferring to use pain instead

They return to their graves until another time

All before the bell strikes twelve

You Are Still With Me

You Are Still With Me

By Lord R.e. Taylor

I know that you are not here

You walked away So long ago

You cannot imagine how I felt

My heart still beats

I still take my breaths

And my mind still thinks

It has been a lifetime apart

A lot of things have changed

But my heart still beats

You are still deep within it

I do still breathe

But your scent fills every one

And my mind does still think

Every thought and dream is of you

Even with all of that

I swear that I will survive

Shadows Of Darkness

Shadows Of Darkness

By Lord R.e. Taylor

Every shadow

Living in darkness

Hiding from the vicious light

They thrive and grow

Existing in a world they chose

Killing My Things

Killing My Things

By Lord R.e. Taylor

So many things

Not one of them important

But all seem serious

They fill my mind

Leaving no room for anything else

However, in all my years

I have learned many things

How to shut my mind away

Lock out the rest of everything

So my mind goes away

Then I spend the day drinking

So, all those things are gone

And I am better for it

Laziness

Laziness

By Lord R.e. Taylor

I’m just sitting here

Not doing anything

Not even planning anything

It’s just one of those days

Nothing is important

I just want to close my eyes

And really not give a damn

Maybe tomorrow will be different

At least I’ll do something positive

I just may change my socks

That’ll be good enough I think

At least for one day

Son Of Every Son

Son Of Every Son

By Lord R.e. Taylor

I am the son of thousands of sons

Each sharing part of themselves

Building blocks which created me

Slaves and slave holders

Soldiers fighting bloody wars

And peacemakers getting the wars to stop

I am part of so many sons

Rich and poor

Royalty and peasant

White, black, brown, and yellow

They are all parts of me

They are all parts of all of us

The Beauty Of Birds

The Beauty Of Birds

By Lord R.e. Taylor

What’s going on

Birds of all kinds

Lorikeets, crows, and pigeons

All gathering in a single tree

Screaming, chirping, and cooing

Making so much noise windows shake

And the clouds run for cover

It doesn't make sense

No one knows anything

Except that it is loud and annoying

But, it is nature and that makes it beautiful

Living A Fantasy

Living A Fantasy

By Lord R.e. Taylor

Everything we ever had

Everything we ever were

It all comes back to me

All I need is a picture

Or a word sent on my screen

I know that you are still there

The love I lost so many evers ago

But my heart still beats for only you

My dreams still run wild

And I find you in my arms again

Sharing our first kiss

Sadly, it is all just a fantasy

A dream which may never come true

Then again...who knows

A Strayan Journey

A Strayan Journey

By Lord R.e. Taylor

Say goodbye to the city lights

Just start the car and get driving

It doesn’t matter where the road goes

Just as long as the asphalt is behind me

I only want to see dirt roads

As many small towns as I can find

Where true Strayan bogans live

Maybe find myself  a larrikin or two

Take my time to hear some Accadacca

Have me a few coldie’s

And shoot through for Woop Woop

If I decide that that may be a better place

Which I doubt

I’m Still Here

I’m Still Here

By Lord R.e. Taylor

You had your chance

More than just a few

I could see you before me

Feel your breath on my face

You never scared me

Not in the least

I knew that I was stronger than you

I proved that the day I was born

So, keep on trying

I will be waiting here for you

And I will survive

You just be sure of that

I will survive

My New Virus

My New Virus
By Lord R.e. Taylor

The sun came up
But he doesn't know it
It isn’t that he doesn’t care
His mind was taken away
Stolen by a virus he didn’t know he had
He is a fighter
A warrior to say the least
He will not give up the life he lived
The people he loved
And the dreams he had
He always was the man we see before us
And he is not going anywhere

Happier Times

Happier Times
By Lord R.e. Taylor

Everyday
Every place
We live through life
Boring and stressful
It is always the same
People knew another way to live
They died off long ago
Still some of their traditions still survive
Dancing and singing in the streets
They knew what the world really was
Not a place where were stressed out
Not somewhere which put people to sleep
It was their home
A special place for celebrating life and all it offers

My Grandma’s Wheelbarrow

My Grandma’s Wheelbarrow
By Lord R.e. Taylor

It sat in the back yard
Right up next to the garden
It was so old
I think my grandma used it
Now it is all rusted
Stuck in the dirt
With a flat tire and several holes
We knew that it was still a treasure
We never moved it
It was where it was meant to be
A little bit of soil
A few beautiful flowers
And it became the beauty my grandma knew
A treasure from my past

The Earth Will Decide

The Earth Will Decide
By R.e. Taylor

The world is being torn
Caught between two sides
Man wants everything modern
Making things he wants
Mother Nature wants all life to live
With fields, trees, clean water and air
A war, lasting forever
Continuing a lot longer
Until the Earth says “enough”
And it makes the decision

Sunshine Hunts Me

Sunshine Hunts Me
By Lord R.e. Taylor

The dark is my home
Hiding me away
But the sunshine hunts me
Trying to take my soul

Swimming In The Cuyahoga

Swimming In The Cuyahoga
By Lord R.e. Taylor

I would love once again
On a hot summer day
Just a chance to swim again
In the waters of the Cuyahoga River
Just below a dam the size of a mountain
But that was so awfully long ago
In time the water has changed
The dam and surrounding land have changed
And even I have also changed
So, the feelings would no longer be there
Of course, there would be feelings
But they could never be the same
However, the memories of that cool water
The roar of the water coming down on us
And the laughter we all shared
Happily, they are all I will ever need

Riding The Rails

Riding The Rails by Lord R.e. Taylor Let’s step back in time Take a ride through a wonderland Hear the clicks of the wheels Feel the rocking...
