You And I

You And I
By Lord R.e. Taylor

I have known you for a long time
We have nearly become one
Feeling when the other is happy
Cry when the other hurts
And hearing what the other thinks
I am not sure if that makes us a perfect couple
I know I would not want to love anyone but you
And, to me, that makes you perfect

Unchanged Beauty

Poem #366
Unchanged Beauty
By Lord R.e. Taylor

It’s a miracle
I haven’t seen you in too many years
You look exactly the same
Not even a wrinkle
Unchanged beauty personified

Elysium Fields

Elysium Fields
By Lord R.e. Taylor

I know that I will die someday
Not sure of when I will be taken
Even less sure of what will finish me
But I think about where God will send me
Heaven is really not a possibility
Hell seems to be a little more likely
I may be a bit too much for them though
Maybe, if I can change enough now
God can send me to a paradise, not His Heaven
Rather a place well-known in ancient times
He may send me across the wide ocean
Allow me to walk through the Elysium Fields
And finally find some peace

The Loss Of Home

The Loss Of Home
By Lord R.e. Taylor

I was never raised in a city
My home was in a small valley
Surrounded by giant mountains
Massive trees, flowers, and animals
They were my bedroom
But that was a lifetime ago
At least it felt that way to me
School called me and I had to go
I was only gone for four years
Never did I hear from home
I did get to go back after a time
But my life was gone
No trees, no animals, no flowers
My world did not exist anymore
It was at that moment I became ill
Sick of the creatures called Humanity

Our Hidden Treasures

Our Hidden Treasures
By Lord R.e. Taylor

All creative people share
Showing the world what they do
But every one of them have secrets
Paintings, stories, and poetry
Hidden away from others
Locked away in deep dungeons
Maybe they were not good enough
Maybe they had special meanings
Meant only for the creator to know
The creative will never tell the story
Or talk about the decision not to share
Just know that the treasures do exist
And that should be enough

The New You

The New You
By Lord R.e. Taylor

You were always so serious
In school you always studied
Even during vacations
No one saw your funny side
Nobody ever knew you even had one
However, that was long ago
Long before I fell in love with you
Even after I did it took a long time
Years to be exact to be shown
But, one day the real you appeared
It was something you could no longer hide
You started laughing for no reason
At that moment, the girl I love faded
And the girl I adore finally came out

Solitude In A Crowd

Solitude In A Crowd
By Lord R.e. Taylor

Too many people
Too small of a place
Nobody talking
No one looking at each other
Every person is all alone
Even when standing in a crowd
That is such a sad state
We are totally to blame
It is the one we all chose
Solitude in a crowd

Heart And Mind

Heart And Mind
By Lord R.e. Taylor

The heart and mind are amazing
Together they can speed up time
Slow it down to a snail's pace
Or even stop it all together
An hour can seem to last a minute
Only if you find something exciting
A minute can seem to last an hour
When you are eagerly waiting
And a moment can last forever
If you are sharing your first kiss
Time can do so much
But it is at the whim of the heart and mind

Movie Palaces

Movie Palaces

By Lord R.e. Taylor

It was not that long ago
Saturdays were spent in a special place
Where cartoons, series, and previews showed
Two thousand seats waiting for you
It was always filled to overflowing
But your best friends always saved you a seat
Now, those theatres have died off
Replaced by boxes holding fifty movie fans
Or new movies coming straight into your home
Old movie palaces made a film an experience
Something everyone looked forward to
An experience lost to a distant past

Your Dream

Your Dream
By Lord R.e. Taylor

Did you ever dream?
See something you wanted
With people you want to see
Doing thing you could never do
Then someone wakes you up
Ruining your dream world
Try as you might, you cannot get it back
The next one may so close
But you will know something is off
So, cherish every dream you have
Remember it in your heart
Because you may never have it again

Listen To Your Elders

Listen To Your Elders
By Lord R.e. Taylor

Your elders have been there for you
Every day of your life they loved you
Played games with you
Taught you so many things
All about the loves and diseases they survived
And all of the wars which surrounded them
Stories which the history books don’t share
Sometime write them down as they speak
What you hear is the truth of a long-lost time
Remember, one day soon our elders will be gone
So, will all of that history
Lost to every generation from now on

His Empty Mailbox

His Empty Mailbox
By Lord R.e. Taylor

It happened not too long ago
His wife died suddenly
Kids and grandkids moved away
So, he lives alone
Dreading the holidays he used to love
He knows that life go on
His family has their own busy lives
But the old, empty mailbox reminds him
He gave his entire life to love them
No one has time for him anymore
And his heart breaks

The Sad Girl Smiles

The Sad Girl Smiles
By Lord R.e. Taylor

She may not have a penny to her name
She does not have a crust of bread
Or even a soft pillow to rest her head
But she will never give up
Life has given her so much
So, sometimes she has to smile
Even when her tears flow down
She manages to hide her pain
She has to stay strong and fight on
Because God has given her a baby
Blessed her beyond anything she imagined
Someone to love, protect, and smile for
So, that young girl will do the best she can
For both herself and the one she loves

Solitude

Solitude
By Lord R.e. Taylor

It was the perfect place
Not a single person around
No noise or movements anywhere
Except the leaves of an old tree
Dancing ever so gently
Moved by a breeze which cannot be felt
It is a place which shows solitude exists
A place where my life could be mine
And my heart soars between the clouds

A Wall Of Rejection

A Wall Of Rejection
By Lord R.e. Taylor

She was born to write
Thousands of words
All about her life and loves
Her dreams and her fantasies
Everything she thought or felt
She decided that she should share
Publish her stories for all to read
But letter after letter came back
Rejection after rejection
Plastered over every inch
Her golden wallpaper was hidden
Still, she never cries over it
She sits and looks at each letter
Coming up with new ideas
Writing new stories
And getting more rejections
But she really does not mind
She loves to tell stories
And she always will

The Local Amusement Park

The Local Amusement Park
By Lord R.e. Taylor

Somewhere is a place
Not in the city
Not in the country either
Some places families go
On summer afternoons
When the kids are home
With they scream and giggle
And down pounds of fairy floss
Somewhere memories are made
Where we went when we were kids
And where our kids will take their kids
Just our local amusement park
Down the road and always in our hearts

Opalescent Sky

Opalescent Sky
By Lord R.e. Taylor

So many colors
Some never seen before
Skies designed to shimmer
Like a treasured opal
Magical stones created by God
And shared in the beauty
Of a purely opalescent sky

She Cried

She Cried
By Lord R.e. Taylor

She cried everyday
From nine until six
She has had so many friends
They come and go all the time
Seeming so happy
Then her day came
She was taken from her cell
Strapped to a table
A needle stuck in her leg
And she simply went to sleep
But she was happy
She was no longer locked in a cage
She was with all her friends again

Born To Destroy

Born To Destroy
By Lord R.e. Taylor

He was born of wind, lightning, and thunder
Raised by the darkness of Hell
He knew what the world could be
Nobody laughing or smiling
Contagious hatred spread like wildfire
No one ever stood a chance to escape
So, the world ended in pain and torture
And he just stood and laughed
Pleased that he did what he was born to do

The Power Of Flowers

The Power Of Flowers
By Lord R.e. Taylor

Let the flowers bloom
Cover the world in colour
Fill the air with sweet scents
We need the hope flowers bring
And the sense of normalcy
Lost to us for so long

Nature’s Paradise

Nature’s Paradise
By Lord R.e. Taylor

A grassy hilltop
The green of the grass
And a single flower
Sharing the sun
Nature’s own paradise

Hell In The Morning

Hell In The Morning
By Lord R.e. Taylor

The dawn comes too quickly
Stars fight to twinkle one more time
Dreams turn to dust and blow away
And the world tries to hide its sins
The people waken to a new day
Seeing new rot on top of the old
Miles deep in some places
Nowhere is clear
That is the way it was designed
No way for anyone to fight
It comes from those we chose
And those who were chosen for us
So, our souls retreat into the darkness
Waiting for the day when the world ends
When the “chosen ones" will be gone
Destroyed by their own kind
Leaving us to fix everything

Her Australia

Her Australia
By Lord R.e. Taylor

She always had a single dream
One which so many have
Walking down a little used path
Through hundreds of giant gum trees
Koalas hanging in the highest branches
Kookaburras laughing as she passed
She doesn’t care where the path leads
Or what else it wants to show her
Everything she finds means she is home
She knows that it is all the Australia she loves

Too Much Stress

Too Much Stress
By Lord R.e. Taylor

Far too much information
Coming from every direction
All day and night without end
Hearing one thing and then another
We can only take just so much
There is only so much room available
So much memory to fill
Before our brains explode in our heads
Now is the time to just shut it all down
Do not listen to another thing
And everybody light up a joint
Order a pizza or two and relax
We deserve it after all we lived through
We definitely deserve it
