Letter To Burn, Whiskey To Drown In
by Lord R.e. Taylor
Every day we shared notes and letters
We talked about our lives and our love
But we had secrets we never spoke of
A strange illness ravishing your body
So much pain and even more suffering
It was a blessing the instant you went away
Even so my heart died before I knew it
Yes, I did try and read your letters
Every one of them but one
I could not even look at the words when you said goodbye
My eyes were crying too much
Still, I knew that one letter would never be seen
It was just a small fire but in less than a minute
That letter was long gone and forgotten
A bottle of whiskey finished off the pain
And, in the end, that was all I needed
