Lost Children Of War

Lost Children Of War

Children are the innocents
Their only crime is living
They should be playing in the yard
Hide and seek and tag
Looking at butterflies as they fly by
Instead, they have to hide in basements
Watching their mothers and fathers die
Seeing blood covering the streets
They hear the bombs dropping
Until the last one drops
Then a lonely child is finally with other children
Was it Russian, American, Syrian or from ISIS
It doesn’t matter
The children are still punished for their crime
A crime they no longer can commit
They lay on a concrete floor
Waiting to be buried
To make room for more innocent children

Who died for a war no one understands
