River Of Life

River Of Life
by Lord R.e. Taylor

Watching the river
Keeping track of the water
Is it flowing as it should
Are the yearly floods coming
We know what we have to do
It has been done for five thousand years
And it will be done for five thousand more
They knew what worked
So far advanced for their time
We have to learn everything from them
It is the way they thrived
And it is how we may thrive
Unless we think we are smarter
Then we will all most likely die
And we would deserve it

All Alone

All Alone
by Lord R.e. Taylor

Am I a prisoner
No
I love the way I live
Away from everything
I hate people
And I hate the world
Please do not come to me
Please do not talk to me
Please, just leave me alone

Love And Thorns

Love And Thorns
by Lord R.e. Taylor

It has such beautiful petals
With dangerous thrones
Offered as a sign of love
But used as a sign of death
Roses can be everything
And they can be nothing
A perfect living paradox
Given to an imperfect species

The Magic Of A Willow

The Magic Of A Willow
By Lord R.e. Taylor

I have one special memory
Lying with you on the lake shore
Watching the sun twinkle
As it flickered between the tree’s leaves
A gentle breeze makes the weeping willow magical
Dancing movements choreographed long ago
Never copied by anything else
To me, they are signs of unending love
Given to me and my future wife
To cherish as long as we both shall live

Too Young To Die

Too Young To Die
By Lord R.e. Taylor

So long ago
It was a far different world
It was safe to be a child
You could attend school
Go to your church
Or just play outside
You would feel perfectly safe
No one decided when it was time to die
Now you cannot do these things
Not without worrying if you would get home
It is a sad world when there are daily death counts
Telling how many died, where, and when
Almost like getting sports scores
One thing, it all has to stop
Kids should not have to think of death
And may they never have to see it

The Man She Loves

The Man She Loves
By Lord R.e. Taylor

Every night she passes the same place
A restaurant down on 58th Street
She can only smile as she looks in
Such delicious food being served
So many happy people
And the man she loves is serving the people

Most People I Know Think That I’m Crazy

Most People I Know Think That I’m Crazy
By Lord R.e. Taylor

I love the world I have created,
The people and places I have found.
Finally, I can be who I really am,
Not normal like everyone else.
I am crazy, I know that,
So does everyone I know.
Maybe that is why I love every one of them.
No matter what happens in our lives,
I can be the lunatic I want to be,
And they can be crazy right beside me.
If you think that you lead a better life,
Just leave us all alone and we will do the same.
Maybe we will wish you all the luck,
While we talk to our dog.

They will clean up...maybe

The End

Covered with the brown dirt he loved
He turns back into dust

Another World

Another World
by Lord R.e. Taylor

There is a place
It only takes a few steps
And a few minutes to get there
But by taking that path
You step back nearly twenty thousand years
Into a world of glaciers
Mastodons roaming wild
And humans were barely more than animals
The thing is, it is not a different world
That is the world we all came from
A world we still have a chance to see
It only takes a few steps
And a few minutes to get there

Miss Universe

Miss Universe
by Lord R.e. Taylor

My cat Princess is wonderful.
That day, she watched Miss Universe on television
Saw the world’s most beautiful woman
You could see it…she thought she was the most beautiful
She donned her most beautiful gown
And that night, at least for me
She became the true Miss Universe

She Herself

She Herself
By Lord R.e. Taylor

She was always careful
Don't be too stupid
But don't think too much
She should find something
Something that makes her heart beat
Maybe makes her think creatively
Just something to shake her a bit
But she has to be herself
And this is the best she can be

That Car

That Car
By Lord R.e. Taylor

That car
It has been sitting so long
Covered in dust
And hidden by hay
No one knew it was there
The owner died decades ago
Doubtful if it had been seen since
Someday someone will find it
Hopefully, their hearts will find love
And the symbol of a whole generation
It will finally see the light of the sun again
They may take the time to fix it up
Bring back the beauty it once had
And get the motor roaring the way it used to
If given the chance, it will rule the streets
Just the way it did before it was lost to time

Those Two Chairs

Those Two Chairs
By Lord R.e. Taylor

Those two chairs have been there forever
My grandmother and grandpa used them
Sharing the evening sunset’s light
Holding hands and loving each other
They were there looking at each other when their time came
So, those chairs still remain as a tribute to their love

Life In The Mountains

Life In The Mountains
by Lord R.e. Taylor

What would it be like
If you lived in the mountains
Breathing the cleanest air
Sunshine unfiltered by smog
Endless hours walking through nature
No loud noises would ever be heard
And the solitude you always wanted
What would it be like
If you lived in the mountains
It would be a life you always wanted
But a life that you could never imagine

My Van

My Van
By Lord R.e. Taylor

I saved every penny since I was a kid
Looking for just the right van
Twenty thousand dollars later
I was driving my perfect conversion van
The back roads I drove on were not the best
But my new weekend home got me to paradise

Summer’s Death

Summer’s Death
by Lord R.e. Taylor

If you listen to the world
You may hear a weakening heartbeat
It is still rhythmic and almost musical
But it is softer than it has been in a while
Yes, you know what that means
Summer is beginning to give up its life
However, it is a great mistake to mourn
You still have a few days left
Party, swim, do whatever you like
Soon, that heartbeat will stop
The leaves and flowers will die
And the endless snow will come
But do not allow yourself to be sad
In nine months, the heartbeat will start again
And summer will show you how to live

My Aphrodite

My Aphrodite
by Lord R.e. Taylor

My life was always so normal
A path predetermined by breeding
All it took was meeting you
Then my path began slowly fading
Twisting and turning right before me
So many pathways all around
Leading to places I never expected
The strange thing was that you were not with me
You had disappeared into the maze
Leaving not a single trace to follow
Still, somehow I knew the way
I knew where true love was hiding
The path I was supposed to follow faded away
And my life was made better the day I met you
So, I searched and searched for a long time
When I finally found you, you appeared as Aphrodite
The perfect woman
And the only woman I wanted to spend my life with

Choice

Choice
By Lord R.e. Taylor

You ask for a choice
Right or left
Up or down
You demand an answer
Does it matter what is said
My choice is always wrong
So why do you ask
Especially when you do not want to know
How about you make it easy
Don’t ask for a choice
That would stop so much pain and save a lot of time
And maybe just maybe, prevent most mental illness

The Writer’s Curse

The  Writer’s Curse
by Lord R.e. Taylor

This is a warning
A condition all of us have
One that every writer fears
It will come to you someday
And there is nothing you can do
Try sitting down at your keyboard
Type in just one or two words
Your mind will shut down
Your fingers will freeze where they are
And you may start to cry a bit
But do not worry it is not fatal
Just chill and drink a bottle of Jack
Watch some really bad television
And do NOT think about those two words
Give it a week or two...maybe a month
Then sit down at your keyboard and try again
If you write an entire sentence, you are cured
But if you only do two words
Get the Jack, turn on the TV, and forget about everything
Hopefully, that will work for you
But remember, there is always Jack and TV
If you ever need them

Cartographer Of The Stars

Cartographer Of The Stars
by Lord R.e. Taylor

There are millions of stars
Those are just the ones we can see
But there are many more
Lost to time and the universe
Each one is a long-lost dream
Or a love which went missing
However, at one time, they shone brightly
But there is a single man A
A cartographer of the stars
He listens to ancient echoes
Tracing invisible constellations
Having his life’s mission ahead of him
He tries to preserve what time tried to erase
Something mankind doesn’t know it needs

Our Forever Love

Our Forever Love
By Lord R.e. Taylor

The first time I saw you
More than fifty years ago
Back when we were both kids
We really didn't know life
And the things it held in store
But we knew in that moment
The two of us were meant to be together
Years later, the Fates twisted for us
Yet, I believe that our love never died
The Fates could not take that away
Neither one of us would allow that to happen
Now, in the rare times I look into your eyes
My heart still skips a beat or two
And I feel the love of that first moment
It comes flooding back over me
And I love you all over again

The Old Stone Path

The Old Stone Path
by Lord R.e. Taylor

An old stone path
Leading into the distance
So many have walked across
Some came back, others didn’t
Nobody knows what happened
And no one ever asked
All that is said is that it is magical
A place of wizards and fairies
Wishes, hopes, and prayers
They are all read and granted
And no one is ever left wanting
All at the end of the old stone path

The End

The End
By Lord R.e. Taylor

We are waiting and praying
Hoping that it won't happen
But it was seen so long ago
The date when common sense died
The lunatics became the leaders
And talking no longer worked
All it took was one wrong word
The flexing of a muscle too many
Just one finger on one button, and it was over
The daylight disappeared in a moment
Nighttime's green glow became our only fate
And the sounds of life could no longer be heard
Sadly, there is no more to say
The story ended just as predicted
Once again, God’s planet is just a rock
And that is what we deserve

Milady’s Love

Milady’s Love
By Lord R.e. Taylor

Milady, you were always loved
For twenty-five years, the people honoured you
They believed you were one of them
Not either royalty  or nobility
Just the same as they were
But you had someone loving you who you did not know
No one knows anything about it
Just that it arrived on the day you were buried
Milady, it must have boundless love for you
Every night, it comes to you with a white crystal rose
It just sits on your tombstone waiting for you
Sadly, you may never return
But know, milady, that love is there for you
All in the guise of a raven and a rose

A Special Woman

A Special Woman
by Lord R.e. Taylor

Her eyes shone in the evening light
Capturing the magic of the setting sun
And releasing their own beauty
No, she cannot hide it
Nor would she ever want to
The power of the heavens and beauty of her heart
They combine to create a woman never seen before
One of unlimited grace and beauty
As well as the strongest spirit of any before  her
The world should feel lucky  that she chose
This time in this space of this reality
A time we needed someone just like her

Mom’s Wisdom

Your mom taught you so much.
She thought it would make you better
Maybe even save your life someday
Yes, most of it was genuine and honest
But others were a pure crock of ....
Her best included not eating before swimming
That last one is usually their favourite
How many people, though, did it work on
You never see anyone walking around with their tongues out
No one still has their fingers making antlers
And not a single person still has the nah nah nah face
So, it must be safe to make faces
Nothing will happen to you
Just another piece of mom’s ....
A piece you will use on your own kids
Maybe it will work for you
It sure didn’t work for her

The Meaning Of A Tear

The Meaning Of A Tear
by Lord R.e. Taylor

Whenever I see a tear
Flowing down your cheek
I never know what to think
There are a million things it can mean
A tear can show sadness
That is the kind that goes forever
A tear can show happiness
It can be for a moment or longer
I would hate to be the one to make a mistake
Trying to make you feel better
When your heart is feeling truly happy
So, I will just wait until you are ready
Then you can tell me, and I will understand
And I will mourn or celebrate with you
Whatever you need when you need it

The Obsidian Church

The Obsidian Church
by Lord R.e. Taylor

The ravens scream from hell
Awakening demons and leading them
Calling the Devil to cross the River Styx
It is time for them to reclaim the world
Remove and destroy all of the saints
Make money their new God and idiots their leaders
Force them to worship at the new altar
Made of gold, blood, and bone of the beaten
Make the churches of the darkest obsidian
And fill them with all of the world's evil
Only that way will the darkness return
And it will last for all eternity

Fated Love

Fated Love
By Lord R.e. Taylor

They grew up together
But they never spoke
And never seen each other
Fate had her plans, though
Setting them up to meet
When they did it, it was in the library
Between the dust-covered shelves
Each wanted a particular book
Written by an author no one knows
And a title no one ever read
Two copies were dying on the shelf
Two copies, which got those two people talking
They smiled and shared a kiss before they left
They will never forget that book
Because it changed their lives
Precisely as Fate hoped it would

A Billion Billion Flowers

A Billion Billion Flowers
by Lord R.e. Taylor

I wish I could give you a flower
One for every time I thought of you
Another for every time I loved you
And another for every time I wanted to kiss you
The problem is that I have loved you for so long
And loved you so strongly
The universe does not have that many flowers
So just know that my heart holds a billion billion flowers
And they are all yours, my love
With a billion billion more to come for now, until forever

Somewhere In Time

Somewhere In Time
by Lord R.e. Taylor

Somewhere in time
Lost long ago
He had his only true love
All his life, he wondered
What one more kiss would have been like
How it would have felt to hold her again
Maybe how is life would have been better
Alas, the time of that love was long gone
He would never be able to love her
Or love anyone else he ever met
Because she was always in his heart
In his mind, soul, and being
She would always be his one true love
The one true love he carried into eternity
With the hope that God would bless him
And they would reunite in Heaven
Making their true love last forever
