Give A Smile

Give A Smile

You look at him
Sitting alone
Never with a smile
He has so much hidden pain
So many worries and troubles
And no on to talk to
So, his tears hide inside
Never to be shown
But all of the time he hopes
That someone will just say hello
And maybe greet him with a smile
That small gesture would make his day
And you may get a smile back
And make your own day too

Unfinished Bridge

Unfinished Bridge

My walk started long ago
It has taken me many places
Has seen me do so many things
Some of my paths were good
Others lead me to my many mistakes
But they all lead me to a moment of choice
Whether to choose the longer road
The one which leads to heaven
Or the other which would lead me to damnation
But my choice will have to wait
The time is not right for me to go
So, I will stand on the unfinished bridge
And I will look across at two worlds
Someday I know I will have to choose
But not today

Not until my bridge is finished

Their World Is Gone

Their World Is Gone

Their world was so green
Grasses, trees and animals
Flourished in the warm Sun
Fish came from abundant streams
And lakes filled to their limits
Then the gods became angry
Man had over-used the land
Dammed the streams
And polluted the lakes
The Sun shone hotter than ever
The rains left for distant lands
And even the last blade of grass died
Now the land is just a desert
Where only a few fight to survive
But, for them, death would be a blessing

As their world dies around them

This House Is Art

This House Is Art

I wished I could have been there
Watching as you were created
Board by board you began to grow
Each one cut to Just the right size
Carefully placed in just the right spot
They were held together by honest men
Working at a craft learned from their fathers
And mastered by decades of experience
Even now after so many years
Your boards have greyed and some are missing
But your beauty and the visions of those men
Well, they can still be seen by anyone who looks
You are not the failing house some see
More than just a collection of old wood

You are a piece of art to be revered

I Love My Shoes

I Love My Shoes

I’ve known you since 1979
We have been together for so long
But not everyone cares about you
Many women told me to trash you
Throw you away like garbage
But look who is still here
Now, I know you are worn out
Threadbare beyond what should be
Tattered and torn at pretty much every seam
I will never get rid of you
Even though you have holes where the toes should be
I know that we have many years left
Many miles left to travel together
So, rest easy my best friends
You have a home now and forever

One Wish

One Wish

If I could meet a genie
And he would grant me a wish
Just one
No more and no less
My heart would decide
Just give me one minute
One special moment
That I let slip by me in life
I want to meet you once again
Speak with you and look into your eyes
I want to feel the emotions
The ones I felt the first time I saw you
But, there are no genies
No wishes which can come true
So, that moment is past
Lost to time
Except in my mind and in my heart
There it will live forever

And so, will you

Surviving The Fog

Surviving The Fog
By R.e. Taylor

The unseen is always dangerous
We have all be thought that
Stay in the open
Observe your surroundings
And never trust what you don’t know
But sometimes we are in a fog
Enveloping us and all we know
The fog may be there to protect us
Hiding the world from our vision
So, remain cautious as you look around
But do not let the fog scare you
Walk through it bravely
And do not show any fear
After all, you may be amazed

Once you see what’s on the other side
