Where Did Patience Go?

Where Did Patience Go?
By Lord R.e. Taylor

Where did patience go?
We demand fast food
Not made right
Just a quick five-minute wait
Sometimes even that is too long
We see news all day everyday
Don’t have to wait for the paper
All we do is turn on a screen
No more waiting a week between shows
Watch a whole damn season in one night
Kids can’t wait to grow up
They are adults by the time they can walk
Computers, electric cars to drive
And kids’ meals with all healthy foods
It’s no wonder patience is no longer a word
We stopped using it a long time ago
No one has it and no one knows what it means
It’s just gone

Neptune’s Daughter

Neptune’s Daughter
By Lord R.e. Taylor

Neptune’s daughter
The most beautiful demon ever
Singing her enticing song
Drawing men to their doom
She has no feeling to show
It is just her job
So, she smiles and sings
Waiting for the next ship to appear
And her body count to increase

Crying On The Mountain Top

Crying On The Mountain Top
By Lord R.e. Taylor

He is stressed
Life keeps pounding him
People being stupid
Hatred and bigotry
Not talking to each other
Turning their backs
Whenever help is needed
Humanity has disappeared
So, he gets away
Climbing to the top of a mountain
He just stands and looks at the world
Thinking about everything happening
And he cries for what the world has become

My Child

My Child
By Lord R.e Taylor

My child
I am sorry I am not there
It was not my choice to leave
But know I will be watching you
Looking from wherever I am
And when your life is in darkness
Look for even the faintest light
Follow it and I will be there
Making sure that you will be safe
My child I promise you that
I will always be there when you need me
All you will have to do is look

Wishing For A New Tomorrow

Wishing For A New Tomorrow
By Lord R.e. Taylor

I never thought
Everything could change
A life of sadness and regret
Caused by a single decision
Made a lifetime ago
Sometimes I make a wish
Where I could go back in time
Say the right things
And do the right things
Make it where you love me again
If I could do that maybe I could smile
And my today would be better
Then maybe even all of my tomorrows
Only if my wish could come true
That is a wish which may never happen
But I will keep on wishing just in case

A Path Of Blood

A Path Of Blood
By Lord R.e. Taylor

You never knew what you did
Not that you ever cared
When that door closed
When you left my life
I felt my heart open up
Bleeding just a small bit
Leaving a deep trail wherever I go
Leading you on a path back to me

Say Goodbye

Say Goodbye
By Lord R.e. Taylor

I wish you had one more day
Long enough for one last poem
Telling us what your heart is saying
Or maybe just say goodbye

The Road The Fates Chose

The Road The Fates Chose
By Lord R.e. Taylor

I have seen so much
Maybe I have seen too much
Walking the road the Fates have chosen
I have seen things most never see
Things terrifying to even the bravest
It was always my choice to continue
I pray that I have chosen right
I will fight, and I will survive
The Fates will just have to accept that
Maybe give me a different road
For better or worse I will travel it
It is just what I have to do

We Are Watching

We Are Watching
By Lord R.e. Taylor

When we created you
We gave you intelligence
We made you self-aware
And we gave you free will
That was so long ago
We thought you’d get better
Be able to care for yourself
Now an eternity later
We cannot believe you all
You really have no idea
So, we just sit and watch
Amazed by the crap you do
And hoping you survive ‘til next week
But, just to let you know
You don’t have any hope at all
But, hey, we tried

The Morning Crow

The Morning Crow
By Lord R.e. Taylor

The Sun was just rising
Still behind the old wooden fence
A beautiful autumn morning
But my eyes were still full of sleep
Birds were singing in a nearby tree
And a majestic crow just outside my window
“Happy, happy, happy,” it said
I wasn’t

A Place Of Peace

A Place Of Peace
By Lord R.e. Taylor

Never has there been such serenity
Always perfectly quiet
Not the sounds of people
Nor chirping birds
Nor blowing breezes
It is a place to rest, pray, or meditate
A place which allows you to be you
Without a single worry
Just a sense of peace
Which is so rare in today’s times

Your Eyes, Your Dreams

Your Eyes, Your Dreams
By Lord R.e. Taylor

Your eyes
So deep, dark brown
Hiding your soul
Sharing your dreams
If I can help you
I want you to have them

Sunset

Sunset
By Lord R.e Taylor

On west facing beaches
Thousands of people gather
Watching a nightly event
An artistic display
Beautiful and pleasing
As the Sun fades away
The sight is also unnerving
It marks a death
The end of possibly a nice day
So, go ahead and cheer
But also shed a tear
The day has ended
Making room for a tomorrow
And a new hope
For thousands of people
Standing on a west facing beach
Celebrating a universal beauty

Marilyn/Norma

Marilyn/Norma
By Lord R.e. Taylor

Did you ever want to be someone else
Not the person they made you
They turned you into a goddess
Untouchable by mere mortals
Always hounded by the press
Looking for any story to make you look bad
Not a sex symbol everyone admires
Impossible to know who loves you for you
Just the innocent girl you used to be
Sometimes you must be honest with yourself
You really do not like who you have become
You may not believe it
Deep inside, you are still Norma Jean Baker
And you always will be

Raggedy Andy

Raggedy Andy
By R.e. Taylor

Hey Raggedy Andy
You have been around forever
Had so many little boys love you
You have been there through bad times
Like when they had the measles
Or maybe the mumps or chicken pox
They took you on so many adventures
Riding their bikes through haunted forests
Maybe going with them to make new friends
You were always there for them
But they grew up and moved on
Locking you away in a dusty old trunk
Andy, don’t you worry though
There will be other boys coming
And they will need a friend too
They will need you

Girl In A Cage

Girl In A Cage
By Lord R.e. Taylor

Who put you in a cage?
Locked you away from the world
Never allowing you to see the Sun
Not allowing you the beauty of a flower
You should never have been treated like that
You are an incredibly special woman
Intelligent and well-spoken
With feelings that every person should have
You need to be free to be the real you
Not a girl locked in a cage

Our Game Of Life

Our Game Of Life
By Lord R.e. Taylor

One day the world will end
Everyone who lived here will be dead
Or maybe moved to another world
However, a few may survive
They will be the most important people ever
Needed to set up an entire new set of laws
Develop agriculture to feed themselves
And create a new population
Can modern humans do what is needed?
Can they create a world out of nothing?
We may never have to find out
Or, we may need to know tomorrow
Our existence is a game that we cannot lose

Her Path

Her Path
By Lord R.e. Taylor

When the gates opened
She took a step
Something she had never done
Leaving the familiar behind
Her fear built up
Until it was unbearable
Still she decided that she must go

There was no way to turn back
Beyond the gates was darkness
Nothing like she had ever seen
Yet, she walked on
Fueled by curiosity and amazement
Held back by things she imagined
Guided by the light of a single candle
She walked on
Finally, she was greeted with a warm hand
She was led into a place she never expected
Family and friends hugged her
And she felt at home
Even after all the feat
God opened His home to her
And she found the Heaven she was looking for

Dance

Dance
By Lord R.e. Taylor

It truly does not matter
How young you are
Or how old you may be
If you have two left feet
If you are a prima ballerina
Or if you cannot feel the music
No matter what you are
No matter what you do
Every great once in awhile
Dance even if you are all alone
Just have fun, relax, and dance
After all...
You will be the only one to know

Arizona

Arizona
By Lord R.e. Taylor

So many miles to travel
Surrounded by nothing
With treasures at every step
There for anyone to see
With heat during the day
Crystal clear nights
Expected and unexpected
Arizona offers so much
Especially when the sun sets
And she shows her true beauty

Living By The Rules

Living By The Rules
By Lord R.e. Taylor

What rules do we live by
We will never know
They change from day to day
No one will share them
Maybe they do not want us to know
So, although we try to be good
Obey everything they tell us
We always do something wrong
That has become our way of life
Not knowing the rules
And still living by them
At least for today
Tomorrow…who knows?

Smile

Smile
By Lord R.e. Taylor

You may not want to smile
Times may be hard
Sometimes way too hard to survive
But no matter what life sends you
No matter what history will say
It can never be that bad
So, just think of something good
Or look at something funny
And just let nature take its course
I promise you that if you smile just once
Many more will come ever easier

Rescued By Amphitrite

Rescued By Amphitrite
By Lord R.e. Taylor

He knows he did not jump in
However, he does not remember falling
He just feels the coolness around him
Helping him to simply relax
Not worrying about himself
His soul is at peace as he sinks deeper
Eventually the light turns to darkness
He can no longer see the sun so far away
Sadly, his heart beats one last time
Amphitrite comes and takes him by the hand
Smiling, he knows, for the first time in his life
He feels happy and welcome
It is as if he had returned home
Too bad no one will know

Living With Her Mind

Living With Her Mind
By Lord R.e. Taylor

She always thinks too much
Never letting her heart rule
Finding problems where none exist
Never finding the love she wants
Maybe she does not feel worthy

Almost like she does not deserve it
She laughs during the day
Pretending that she is okay

However, she knows better
So, she just sits in her room
Watching the world go by
Wishing she can find the love she wants
The love her mind will never let her have
