You Need To Know

You Need To Know
By Lord R.e. Taylor

Child you need to know
I know what you have been told
But you only have one life
And that mouse is not worth it

The Reader

The Reader
By Lord R.e. Taylor

You are such a smart girl
Always knowing, always learning
Every time you see a book
It could be new, or it could be old
Fact, fantasy, or fiction
You will pick it up and read it
Travelling to so many other lands
Meeting so many new people
It is just the way you are
Always turning pages to escape
Maybe you can find the life you lost here

She Tried

She Tried
By Lord R.e. Taylor

He must have known what He was doing
Sending you down to watch over His children
It must have been a very long time ago
Back when the world was very different
People accepted His wisdom
And they knew how to love each other
Sadly, times have changed over the years
The job you were sent to perform
It became harder and harder as time passed
So, it is totally understandable to do what you did
You cannot be blamed for hiding your head and crying
And someday He may take you back into Heaven
Because you tried harder that anyone should
His children refused to listen to His word
And that was just not your fault

You Are A Legend

You Are A Legend
By Lord R.e. Taylor

You are a legend
Appearing on foggy days
A spirit running free
You are seen but not seen
Just a myth creating wonder

Tribute To Anya Taylor-Joy

Tribute To Anya Taylor-Joy
By Lord R.e. Taylor

There has not been a beauty like you
At least not for two thousand years
Back when sculptures carved their marble
But even the goddess they carved
Well, they were no comparison
You make even the Olympians look normal
So, we are so lucky to have you now
You make the world a little more beautiful
And we should be grateful for that

The Real You

The Real You
By Lord R.e. Taylor

My God girl
You are normal
Maybe a little too normal
And everyone loves you for it
But you know the truth
You have another girl hidden away
One who is silly and does silly things
The girl you really want to be
So, forget about everyone else
Try sometime and throw normalcy away
Show us who you really are
It is guaranteed that everyone will still love you
Just give them all a chance
And let them know who you are
You may be surprised

Futility

Futility
By Lord R.e. Taylor

Time goes up
Time goes down
All the time the world goes round
Nothing is certain
Everything is chance
We all live in a cursed dance
Hoping to see the future
While we remember the past
And maybe see our legacy last

Loss Of A Friend

Loss Of A Friend
By Lord R.e. Taylor

You are such a cute little girl
With a wild imagination
Creating a world of your own
You could be a princess
Or maybe you are a warrior
Whoever you are, you have friends
One special friend who you love
But even in your special world
There are moments of sadness
And saying goodbye to someone
That has got to be the worst
When it is a special friend
The one friend you truly love
You will cry and your tears will flow
In the end you will feel better
Knowing that your friend is safe
And that will allow your smile once again

Your Final Journey

Your Final Journey
By Lord R.e. Taylor

You fell from a mighty maple
Blowing in the cold winds
You travelled so far
Only to become stuck
Left alone till your eventual end

Ukraine

Ukraine
By Lord R.e. Taylor

Most of the world knows what is happening
All of the death and destruction
All of the women, and children
Seen walking between bullets and bombs
But the blue and yellow flag still flies
And the rest of the world cries

Joe Biden

Joe Biden
By Lord R.e. Taylor

No food, no gas, no money, and starving babies
No one to blame except Putin and eighty-four million voters
Let’s pray for no chance for a re-election in 2024

Love Under The Arch

Love Under The Arch
By Lord R.e. Taylor

The first time I saw you
You were all alone
Sitting under a flowered arch
I saw you and you saw me
And when time slowed down
We became a true couple
Sitting under the arch
And falling in love

Eternal Love

Eternal Love

    By Lord R.e. Taylor

She had no idea how much he loved her
He had told her so many times
A whole lifetime he was her’s alone
They share dreams and plans
Making decisions who made them them
And even having children to share their love
But cancer arrived and took her from him
Mourning he felt his arms reach for her
She was no longer there
His love was still as strong as it ever was
He died the night she left
His only wish to be buried with the woman he loved
Holding her the way he had all their lives
Together they still live and the still love
Just the way they should

Your True Beauty

Your True Beauty
By Lord R.e. Taylor

How long have you been alone
There were people who loved you
So many people got married
So many babies got baptized
And maybe a few to many funerals
Still, you held your parishioners safe
Celebrated every life event
Then they all just up and left
Not one of them looked back
So not your age has caught up with you
But even if you are falling apart
You still have your own kind of beauty
Surely you still hold a lot of fond memories
All someone has to do is look at you
And you can see your life and how you lived
That my friend is your true beauty

Proud Woman

Proud Woman
By Lord R.e. Taylor

I have known you for a long time
You were always bright and happy
But you had a side I never saw
A side with black storm clouds
Demons and monsters lurking
Not afraid to torture your mind
Still, you stand as a strong woman
Unafraid of the darkness inside you
And, for that you should be proud

Voices

Voices
By Lord R.e. Taylor

Twenty-five million  people
Wandering on this rock
Each looking at glowing boxes
Not talking  to each other
Doubtful if they have voices
Someday I hope the power dies
The boxes stop with their  glow
People say ‘hello, how are you doin’
And for the first time in a long time
The boxes will be thrown in the trash
And voices will finally fill the air
Just the way they should be

Hard To Imagine

Hard To Imagine
By Lord R.e. Taylor

It is so hard to imagine
How I ever fell in love with you
Maybe it was the words we said
I thought it was the look in your eyes
Whatever it was, it made my heart skip
My thoughts became filled with you
And because of it all we fell in love
It is still so hard to imagine
But I love you now and forever

Miracle Of A Silver Moon

Miracle Of A Silver Moon
By Lord R.e. Taylor

Once a month
The clouds break apart
Opening the skies
Allowing the full moon to shine
Werewolves appear from their lairs
Vampires rise from their tombs
And ghosts tease the living
But lovers often fall in love
First kissing in the silver light
All is the miracle of a full moon
Depending on how you see it

The Forest Prince

The Forest Prince
By Lord R.e. Taylor

I cried when I looked at you
A true prince of the forest
Trapped without a chance
How long did you wait to die
I wondered what you were thinking
Did you even know what was happening
Did anyone see you in your last moments
Know that now you will be remembered
Deep within our hearts
You will always be the true prince
Long may you reign

My Lost Smile

My Lost Smile
By Lord R.e. Taylor

Every morning it’s the same
The smile I had the night before is gone
Lost in a universe of stars
Too distant to ever be found
Even with hopes and prayers
It is no longer a part of me
As if it ever was

Wounded Knees

Wounded Knees
By Lord R.e. Taylor

I was one of the lucky ones
I was allowed to play
To rough house
And yes, even to get hurt
I lost so much skin
On many miles of asphalt
But all of the wounded knees I had
They were trophies of being a boy
And to me…that was a good life

A Made-up Land

A Made-up Land
By Lord R.e. Taylor

A made-up land
Created from the back of someone’s mind
With its own legends and history
Heroes and villains and maybe a princess or two
Along with a gigantic castle
For sure a wizard to make it all just right
It is a magical land with magical people
Made up by a writer to be shared in their stories
All you have to do is just read one
And that would help the writer to smile
Just knowing that they helped you to imagine

In My Dreams

In My Dreams
By Lord R.e. Taylor

I count the days
Not looking forward
I look back in time
Back to moments with you
When we met and fell in love
The times we spent together
Living in each other’s arms
Sharing our dreams and wishes
And knowing life was good
But that was a lifetime ago
You were lost in the waves of time
In my mind though we are together
Time never passed
And you are still in my arms
Even if you are only in my dreams

Cotton Candy World

Cotton Candy World
By Lord R.e. Taylor

Reality never is real
It lets us see what we want
Other times we see what we need
Sometimes, we need what is not there
Like a candy cotton world
Peaceful and beautiful
Pastel and colorful
Just what we need

Leilah

Leilah
By Lord R.e. Taylor

So long we have waited for you
An ancient spirit of the night’s beauty
When you appear, all fear disappears
Normal people look at the stars
They see what you created
And they admire your artistry
Leilah, you may return to the waves
But you will always be remembered
Every time a star twinkles
