Candlelight

Candlelight
By Lord R.e. Taylor

It really does not take much
But not even dim lights will word
Only a gentle flickering light
Coming from a long tapered candle
Will set the perfect mood
And allow love to grow

Growing

Growing
By Lord R.e. Taylor

Everyday
Changes occur
Physical and emotional
The child leaves
The person emerges
Wiser and stronger than before
Finishing nature's plan
The growth of life

Let’s Talk About It

Let’s Talk About It
By Lord R.e. Taylor

I know you have opinions
And I will not hate you for them
Yes, we may argue over them
We may even get loud
But I will never hate you
I will never get violent with you
And I will still have a beer with you
That is all part of being an adult
So, argue with me
Prove that I am wrong
Let me prove that I am right
Just do not hate me
And let us live and let live

Let Time Keep Moving

Let Time Keep Moving
By Lord R.e. Taylor

Let time keep moving
Faster and faster
I just do not care anymore
I have most everything I need
But absolutely nothing I want
So, worrying about time
It is of the least importance
Tomorrow will never come
The present cannot stay
And yesterday will be forgotten
You are a no longer with me
So, my life no longer matters
Just let time keep moving
Faster and faster
I just do not care anymore

My Friend Shark

My Friend Shark
By Lord R.e. Taylor

My friend Shark
Always together we are
We even go swimming
But whenever I call him
Everyone hides
Running into the water

A Peaceful Place

A Peaceful Place
By Lord R.e. Taylor

What would it be like
To find a quiet path
Just walk and walk
No one around
No worries or cares
And no stray thoughts
You, the trees, and the flowers
With the space anyone needs
Waiting for you to find it
All you have to do is want it

The Coming Future

The Coming Future
By Lord R.e. Taylor

There is something coming
You cannot see it
But you know it is there
It is a feeling going through you
All the way through every bone
Like a winter snowstorm
Blowing in from the north
You cannot avoid it
A whole new world is coming
You cannot do anything to stop it
Because you created it a long time ago
You and others like you
And now you have to face it head on
Whether you are ready or not

Make A Difference

Make A Difference
By Lord R.e. Taylor

Raise your hand
Yell as loud as you can
Make all the noise you can
Just make yourself seen by all
Make it so you are not forgotten
Be sure to say what needs to be said
Above all, never be violent
Never raise your hands in anger
It really is not worth it
Never gets anything done
Except people get hurt or killed
So, raise your hands and voice
And really make a difference

Sounds From Long Ago

Sounds From Long Ago
By Lord R.e. Taylor

Long after the doors closed
Sounds still echo through the halls
Rants from the mentally ill
Screams as their bodies were being tortured
And their remaining minds were ripped apart
Only to be left as empty shells
Without any personality left to find
Finally, to be buried when nothing was left
So many bodies in so many unmarked graves
Success stories of the medicine of the time
They are all crimes reviled by modern history
But, even now, no one sheds a single tear
For the innocent ill of an ancient time

You

You
By Lord R.e. Taylor

Every night I try to sleep
But every night I lie awake
Remembering what it was like
You always spoke in the softest voice
You always saw me with your magical eyes
How could I not have fallen in love with you
I knew in my heart that you were perfect
Maybe too perfect for a poor man like me
So, I live with my memories of you
And the knowledge that you are out there
Outside of my arms but not outside my heart

We Need To Talk

We Need To Talk
By Lord R.e. Taylor

We need to have a talk
So many things we have been afraid to say
Feelings to explain and share
We need to find the perfect place
High above the noise and light of our lives
Where you and I can truly become us

The Man Under The Tree

The Man Under The Tree
By Lord R.e. Taylor

A man lived so long ago
A carpenter who was a king
But the carpenter had so many ideas
Unknown to the people of His lands
He spoke and taught
And He became too much
Captured and tortured
His body died on the cross
But His spirit came back to us
To help us learn how to live
And how we should love
He is still on Earth
Sitting beneath a dogwood tree
Surrounded by His teachings
He watches over us
And prays for all of us
Most of all He loves us

You Were A Palace

You Were A Palace
By Lord R.e. Taylor

You were someone’s dream
They shed blood, sweat, and tears
Working to make sure that you were just right
Making sure that you were a palace
Fit for the stuffiest of royals
Suddenly the world changed for the worse
The ones who cared so much for you
They walked away and never looked back
You died that day after living a dream life
Now you are just a shell
Still a palace but not the same palace
No one wants you
And few even know you exist
They do not know what they are missing
But as long as you stand maybe someone will

You And The River

You And The River
By Lord R.e. Taylor

A warm summer day
Not too hot or cold
Everything is just perfect
Nothing to do all day
So why not float down the river
No motor, paddles, or oars
Just you and the river
Nothing more
Nothing less

You Will Hear My Words

You Will Hear My Words
By Lord R.e. Taylor

I know you can hear me
Over and over again I say the same words
I will not give up saying it to you
I promise when my words come back to you
When you grow up you will know how smart I was
And you will finally listen to me

Our Special Place

Our Special Place
By Lord R.e. Taylor

You knew I loved you
The moment I met you
Flames started in that clearing
Our souls burned as we married
But you had to leave
Go to a war a world away
Night after night I waited
That door was supposed to open
Sadly, it never did
They said you died saving lives
Protecting women and children
They never did cry for you
I cried until I could cry no more
Now, I go to that special clearing
I tell you everything about my life
I pray that you are at peace
And remind you that I love you

Reassurances

Reassurances
By Lord R.e. Taylor

How painful would it be
The first time a child
Watches a petal fall to the ground
When they don't know the flower will return
How hard would it be
For a child to look up
And see winter's empty branches
When no one tells them about spring
What does a child feel
When a parent walks out
Even if just for a little while
Especially, if they don't hear
“I love you; I'll be back.” before the door closes
Every child needs reassurances in their lives
Be that one who makes them feel safe
And that everything will be alright

Don’t Say It

Don’t Say It
By Lord R.e. Taylor

The world is weird
You have to say the right things
Be careful not to offend
Boy, girl, son, daughter, mom, and dad
They are all bad words
Never to be said by anyone
Instead call everyone it
No other word except for it
“It is an attractive it. Isn't it?”
“It does so well in school"
“My it is going out with an it later"
It is just the beginning to it all
It needs normal people to stop it
Say what you want the way you want
If it offends...so what
Please, just don’t use the word it

THIS IS DEDICATED TO UNITED STATES
REP. NANCY PELOSI

First Time Alone

First Time Alone

For the first time ever
All alone in my house
Nothing but silence
Such a valuable thing
Truly a paradise

How We Write

How We Write
By Lord R.e. Taylor

It all starts with a dream
Created in the back of your mind
Thought about again and again
So many sleepless nights
As the idea grows and changes
Finally, you put your pen to paper
Writing and writing again and again
Maybe changing little bits and pieces
Maybe rewriting the whole thing
Eventually you finally finish it
Putting the last word in the perfect spot
Then you share it with the world
Just before you find that you misspelled “the”
And you have to start all over again

Finding Love

Finding Love
By Lord R.e. Taylor

So hard to find
Even harder to keep
You showed me what love is
What it should be
I love you for that

She Was Just Different

She Was Just Different
By Lord R.e. Taylor

You never got to know her
She wasn’t the proper kind
Maybe she was a lovely girl
You really did not care
She was too different
And that bothered you
Actions you took were not right
You tortured her without mercy
Forcing her into hiding
Living in the shadows
Away from anyone who may have cared
But that never worried you
Even when she died not too long ago
You did not mourn for her
Her life meant nothing to you
Just because she was different

Walk The Path

Walk The Path
By Lord R.e. Taylor

What are you waiting for
It may be the unknown
But you are going to have to decide
Do you take that first step
Or do you just wait and see
The way could lead to Wonderland
A place of more magic than you could imagine
It could also take you back to a land you know
Where your normal life goes on everyday
The choice is up to you
No one else can make that decision
So, just take that first step
And see what that ragged path can share
