Reassurances

Reassurances
By Lord R.e. Taylor

How painful would it be
The first time a child
Watches a petal fall to the ground
When they don't know the flower will return
How hard would it be
For a child to look up
And see winter's empty branches
When no one tells them about spring
What does a child feel
When a parent walks out
Even if just for a little while
Especially, if they don't hear
“I love you; I'll be back.” before the door closes
Every child needs reassurances in their lives
Be that one who makes them feel safe
And that everything will be alright
