Waterdrop

Waterdrop
By Lord R.e. Taylor

Let the river flow
Gathering speed as it goes
It does not know what is coming
Every drop has a chance to create
With an equal fatal chance
The roar keeps the drops from thinking
What is going to happen
Will the drops go over the falls
And crash behind the rocks below
Or will they be lifted into the mist
Flying high above the chaos below
Creating a beautiful rainbow
A wonderful memory for anyone watching
Before they make their trip up the river
Just so they can do it again and again
Danger, fear, and the ultimate beauty
Such is the life of a waterdrop

Just The Way I Am

Just The Way I Am
By Lord R.e. Taylor

I have never feared nature
To me, everything needs to be loved
From the most beautiful bird
To the lowliest insect
They are all my friends and I care for them
Even the snakes that can kill me with a bite
I will hold them and pet them
People say that I am foolish for tempting death
But I do not see it that way
I am always nice to them
Talking to them and showing them affection
They always treat me the same way
That is how my life should be
I would not want it any different

Remember To Play

Remember To Play
by Lord R.e. Taylor

The children know
They know how to be friends
How to play together
And how not to argue over crap
Somehow, we lose all of that
Adulting takes it all away
Replacing it with God knows what
We lose our imagination and vision
We lose our curiosity and our desire for fun
Most of all, we forget how to discuss
And we lose our ability to question
Maybe we should search our souls
Find that secret path to being a kid again
So that we might be better adults

We Need To Stop

We Need To Stop
by Lord R.e. Taylor

Sadly, the world is falling apart
Leaders and citizens violently fight
People get hurt or killed
Leaders send their armies to fight
Citizens use new ways and weapons
Neither side can ever win
Neither side can ever lose
So the fight goes on year after year
It gets so bad that even talking is impossible
Even when the leaders change
The war goes on and on
If the people find another mission
The war goes on and on
Everyone must step back a bit
And maybe think if it is all worth it
If the answer is no, just go home
Do not listen to anyone, especially the news
Just chill and maybe have a beer
I am sure your enemy might like a cold one
After a beer or four, the world will not seem so bad
And the war will be over

He Who Stayed

He Who Stayed
by Lord R.e. Taylor

I have been gone for so long
Taken away too many years ago
But know that I loved your mother
After I left, I still cared for her
Even after my death, she was in my soul
The one woman I ever loved
I don’t think she ever saw me
But I promised her that I would never leave
So, please do not worry
If she is with you or if she is with me
I will keep her safe and happy
That I can promise you

Sell Me A Single Wish

Sell Me A Single Wish
by Lord R.e. Taylor

You are not a genie, and you have no magic
But maybe you can sell me just a single wish
You can help me find the nerve
Help me tell that woman that I love her
It may not make a difference
She may not see me standing before her
But then again, she may
And that single wish you sold me
Well, it would make my life so much better

Her Tears Are Her

Her Tears Are Her
by Lord R.e. Taylor

I can hear her crying
She only had a little in life
Never wanting much of anything
She has only what she needed
But he came along and loved her
Then he turned his back and crushed her
He took what little she had
And left her an empty heart and soul
She will never recover from that pain
So, all she does is sit alone and cry
Believing that is all she deserves

White Paper

White Paper
by Lord R.e. Taylor

Do you know what is being said
What they write about you
Lies, truths, and whatever they want
And those papers never leave
Kept by an uncaring bureaucracy
Used whenever they want
Those papers are so dangerous
Giving papercuts without us knowing
Cutting skin, veins, and arteries
Letting us bleed to death
And you know they are laughing as we do

Endless Blaze

Endless Blaze
By Lord R.e. Taylor

The fires burn just over the horizon
Turning the air grey with blowing smoke
Making the clouds glow like amber
It is truly a terrifying sight to see
But it also has a beauty that has to be admired
You may pray for the people and animals
Losing their homes, they need all of our help
They are all just trying to survive the worst
Not even trying to thrive in their hell
Please give them your blessing
And help them return to their everyday lives
That would be the best thing we can do

Another October 7th

Another October 7th
by Lord R.e. Taylor

Another year
The war continues
More and more people die
And more and more people do
The fighting goes on
Without an end in sight
But the victims are becoming victors
Still fighting the best fight they can
Protecting their land and people
But this war will never end
Evilness will not allow it
They enjoy the death too much

Watch What You Write

Watch What You Write
by Lord R.e. Taylor

I do not know what to write
I have the words lined up
They really are good words
But I do not want to be in trouble
Saying something that will get someone mad
Maybe use a word that hurts their feelings
My mom may have been right
If you cannot say anything nice
Do not say anything at all
So from now on, I will write about smiles
Cute little puppy dogs and wildflowers
No one will ever get mad or cry
And I will never have to delete another great poem

Dreaming Of Snow

Dreaming Of Snow
By Lord R.e. Taylor

It may sound really silly
I have not seen snow for so long
it is just a single memory
Fading with every new year
Yes, I do dream of the icy air
The beauty of the snowflakes
Dancing across a window in my thoughts
Icicles look like strings of diamonds
I feel the chill even if the room is warm
Imagination can do wonderful things
Creating a paradise could hardly be any better
If only I could build a snowman
Then the paradise would be perfect

Oz’s Deadliest

Oz’s Deadliest
By Lord R.e. Taylor

I cannot believe the stories here
Spiders bigger than your hand
Snakes that hunt you
Birds that will break your head
And dogs who eat whatever they find
Not to mention the sharks and jellyfish
They will kill you without you seeing them
So what can a normal person do
Well, you can never be careful enough
You can stay hiding in your house
Only go places with nice, thick roofs
Or move to Iceland
It may be cold, but at least you’d be safe

The Lantern’s Light

The Lantern’s Light
by Lord R.e. Taylor

You really cannot imagine
The joy I get coming around the bend
Just seeing the glow from that lantern
That one thing tell me life is good
Life has not forsaken me
And my home is closer than it has been
So many lonely nights and empty dreams
Have lead to the beauty I am seeing now
And knowing you are behind that door
It will keep my heart beating and my soul waiting
Just to once again hold you in my arms
Tell you that I do love you
And that I will always be yours alone
All that from the light of just one lantern
A lantern which means life and love
Maybe making a lonely man smile
And never want to leave home again

Sunrise Widower

Sunrise Widower
By Lord R.e. Taylor

She left a lifetime ago
Sailing off into the sunrise
His life ended that day
He has no past and no future
He simply lives in that single minute
Waiting for her to return
So that his heart may once again beat
But every day the sun rises
Just as it is supposed to
And every day the ocean remains empty
As does his heart
And his life

Freedom Of Speech?

Freedom Of Speech?
By Lord R.e. Taylor

I try to keep my eyes covered
I try to keep my ears blocked
I try to keep my mouth shut
Do not let your opinion be known
Keep everything to yourselves
They make laws about what we know
Jail sentences for what we say
And cancellations if we are right
So, just ignore what you have learned
Freedom of speech is well in the past
Just something you hear about
Something you will never experience
Something you may regret knowing about
Because soon, even knowing about it will be illegal

Brand New Colours

Brand New Colours
by Lord R.e. Taylor

So many colours
Each comes from a different direction
Mixing and swirling, making new patterns
New colours flow from the edges
They have no names yet
But some artists, somewhere, will name them
Smear them on a blank canvas
Maybe sell it for a million dollars
All while I watch the swirls and twirls
I will stand around just waiting for the day to end
To see what the world gives me
And what the universe takes away
