The Abandoned Mailbox
by Lord R.e. Taylor
There's a mailbox out on Route Ten
No one knows it is there
Cars do not pass by anymore
The road was abandoned years ago
But that mailbox is still alive
Holding one last letter from 1943
The names can no longer be read
Time took them away long ago
All you can read is that date
No one knows what the letter says
It could be a soldier coming home
Or a soldier killed on a field in France
It might be better for us not to know
And let the stories write themselves
