Ridin’ The Rails

Ridin’ The Rails
By R.e. Taylor

It must have been so nice
No job and no family
Just the wide-open spaces
And a ride on a westbound freight
Just you and maybe a few mates
Changing trains whenever you wanted
Always travelling but still going nowhere
But still seeing everywhere
That must have been a great life
Now, an almost lost piece of history
It is now the stuff of songs, stories, and poems
