The Forty Year Sleep

The Forty Year Sleep

He was twenty-one when he went to bed
Like Rip Van Winkle he slept his life away
He awoke to a life he would never know
Everything he knew came from so many dreams
Did Chris, Andy, Nixi, Kira, and Liz ever exist
What about Rae, Hannah, Meredith, Alexis, and Charlie
Were they just figments of his imagination
Or were they someone he loved during his sleep
He may never know since he doesn’t know what is real
His thoughts turn back to his forty years of sleep
Maybe he was better off living in his world of dreams
He may not have been better off
But he was happier

And that was what he needed
