The Lady of the Forest
By Lord R.e. Taylor
She was a lady of the forest
Never was she young
Never an innocent child
She had been around too long for that
Dancing and singing were her life
Songs to the Christian God
Others sang to the many she worshipped
Her prayers filled the forest
Always answered for those she helped
People feared her and also loved her
But not one person ever knew this dark woman
They knew their own prejudices
Sadly, that was all they ever needed to know
She was just the lady of the forest
She didn't have to do any more for them
