Icy Paintings

Icy Paintings
By R.e. Taylor

Only one time of year
When the sun sets earlier
And rises later
The winds from the north
Blow in the darkness
Touching cooling windows
Creating art as it does
Brush strokes with pure perfection
With untold beauty and intensity
Paintings no mortal artist could ever create
Sadly they only last a short time
Minutes, hours, days or weeks
They will fade away and die
And they will not be remembered
But they will be missed when Spring comes

She Found Her Dream

She Found Her Dream
By R.e. Taylor

From the first day she could dream
She had one which filled her sleep
And flooded her daydreams her whole life
She wanted a place where the air was sweet
Peace surrounded her
Allowing her to write and paint
Sometimes she could dance all alone
To music only she could hear
After many, many years she found her dream
A wooden gazebo hidden in a beautiful garden
She took a seat on the bench to write a poem
As she finished, she took her last breath
The poem was a thank you to God
He let her live long enough to find her dream
And that was all she ever wanted
So, she died in the way that she wanted
And that made her happy

Never Growing Up

Never Growing Up
By R.e. Taylor

I did what was expected
Sixteen years of school
Which taught me how to think
Just learn the facts
Recite them back to us
That is what they wanted
But I could not give it to them
I thought for myself
Reading and creating stories
With dragons and princesses
Elves and massive castles
And unicorns running in the fields
To me growing up wasn’t learning facts
Growing up was losing your imagination
That was something I refused to do
So, I decided never to grow up
And decades later I still haven’t

Wishing On A Star

Wishing On A Star
By R.e. Taylor

A million million stars
Every one a wish
Made by some who needs help
Maybe they need love
Maybe they need money
Or maybe they just need peace of mind
Some wishes are answered
Most are not
But that doesn’t matter
People keep wishing on the stars
I just hope that when my turn comes
And I look up into the sky to make a wish
They will have left one star for me

When Time Began

When Time Began
By R.e. Taylor

What will it be like
The moment after the world ends
It may be totally silent
With only the whisper of the breezes
Cloud filled skies block the Sun
And the remains of life
Buildings and all lifeforms
Fade into the ground
Leaving no trace on the dead planet
Just the ash and dust which began
Four billion years ago
When time began

Forgotten Soldiers

Forgotten Soldiers
By R.e Taylor

Millions of soldiers
In infinite wars
Fought for king and country
Dying for no good reason
Buried in cemeteries
Located in every country
Most are forgotten over time
Flowers and flags no longer appear
They just lie in their graves
With no one to visit them
An artist decided that was not right
He created mourners who endlessly stand
Giving the soldiers the respect they deserve

The Life Of An Artist

The Life Of An Artist
By R.e. Taylor

I have a problem
Everyone tells me to relax
Just sit back and do nothing
Even my shrink says it
I have tried so many times
Closing up my computer
Putting away my pencils and ink
And hiding my paintbrushes
The thing, is nothing works
My mind starts working
Creating things without me asking
My hands twitch
And my butt squirms in my chair
Finally, my head starts to explode
I go into my studio and I do something
Maybe I paint or draw
Or I sit down and write this poem
Only then I can relax for a few minutes
Before I have to start all over again
But that is the life I have chosen
I will do it until I can do it no more
And that will be the moment I take my last breath
