My Body And Me
by Lord R.e. Taylor
Alas, my body is no longer mine
One after another parts have failed
Turned their back on me as I aged
My bones and muscles went first
Making it hard to do the simplest things
My eyes will no longer be allowed to see
Both beauty and ugly now look the same
And the sounds of children fall on deaf ears
Many parts of me have been removed
Some for even the simplest of reasons
Still, my brain works just a touch slower
Forgetting things I wished to remember
But, despite it all, my heart still beats
So, for now, my life is still mine
And I fully intend to keep it that way
